Jose Mendez, DO, brings over twenty years of experience as a physician to his practice at Dermatology Consultants of Asheville in Woodfin, North Carolina. He has experience in varied areas, including dermatology, dermatologic surgery, wound care, critical care, primary care, and research. Dr. Mendez has over thirteen years of specialized experience in general dermatology and Mohs surgery.
Dr. Mendez earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Physician Specialties and is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Mendez is also board-certified in geriatric care and family medicine. He is fluent in English and Spanish, which enables him to connect with more patients.
Dr. Mendez served as a voluntary Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He has also served as a Clinical Professor for Internal Medicine and Dermatology with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and Clinical Professor for the Department of Dermatology Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Mendez has served as the principal investigator for several dermatology research trials.

Dr Mendez is kind, patient, and caring. He always looks happy to see you. And his assistants are very thorough before he comes in. He is knowledgeable about various ethnicities and cured my adult acne (which many other derms had failed to do) by realizing it was allergies, giving me a sample of a gentle face wash, and switching one of my meds from a solution (which was causing extra dryness) to a lotion. Gone in one week! The ladies in the front are always lovely to me. The only downside is the wait. You must plan to be there for at least an hour to 1.5 hours before being seen. It's worth the wait, but you must go in prepared for this.
