Dr Pugar’s expertise in this field has increased the quality of my life ,… by reducing the monthly average number of migraines to zero many times. My appointment yesterday started with scheduling the next visit, Then fully reviewing what’s going right and what is not. I share and they are patient, curious and proactive. Then, the process begins. I routinely am given 33 injections. Nearly no wincing, nearly no bleeding. It’s a quick, easy and highly effective. Thank you Dr K. Pugar for —your skill in the migraine management field. —your concern for me as your patient and —the care you show for me as a person. This is truly a fabulous practice.
I was a bit unsure of what to expect on the first appt. with Dr. Pugar. However, it was a good first visit… . He has a good way to ask questions, in casual, yet through .his conversation & questions were on my level & caring .he Show morewas sensitive, but on point (having to repeat the question) .I would say, we had a very good first visit & we both gained knowledge & insights. .He gave me hope that I haven’t totally gone off the grid
Douglas Pugar, DO, is a board-certified neurologist at the Dayton Center for Neurological Disorders (DCND), which provides neurology services to adults in Centerville, Beavercreek, Springfield, Eaton, Wilmington, Hillsboro, and Vandalia, Ohio.
Dr. Pugar went to college at Ohio University in Athens, earning his Bachelor of Science in chemistry. After graduation, he enrolled at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and obtained his Doctor of Osteopathy. Before joining DCND, he completed residency training at Kettering Health Dayton (formerly Grandview Medical Center) in Ohio.
Dr. Pugar is trained in all aspects of neurology, but he has a special interest in helping patients with their dementia/Alzheimer’s, concussion, and headache diagnoses. His knowledge and expertise allow him to develop personalized care programs that minimize symptoms and improve the quality of life for his patients.
Dr. Pugar is passionate about medical education and teaching. As the director of the Grandview Hospital Neurology Residency Program, he regularly mentors and teaches medical students, residents, and fellow physicians on various neurological topics. He also contributes to medical publications, writing summary articles on topics like dementia.
Dr. Pugar enjoys public speaking. He often offers lectures on various neurological topics to medical students and the community. He strongly believes in taking time to listen to patients and help them understand their diagnosis so they can work together as a team to improve their quality of life.
Dr. Pugar is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. He also is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Osteopathic Association.
Dr. Pugar enjoys spending time with his wife and children outside of work. He also plays guitar and loves golfing and snowboarding.

Dr PUGAR is knowledgeable and able to address all of my questions thoroughly. He is pleasant to work with. All ancillary staff are efficient and work together as a team. I highly recommend this practice!
Explain all so I would understand Did not talk over head
Very patient he provided answers to all of my questions. He seemed very engaged in trying to find a solution or at least a better understanding of my issue.
He is very caring and explained things well. I am the daughter of the patent and he even addressed the importance of me taking care of me so I can take care of Mom. That meant a lot. With the diagnosis, there really isn't anything they can do but the fact he told us about a medication that can help slow down the progression was surprising and welcomed
Dr. Pugar is very pleasant and made a great impression during my first visit. After moving away and then returning, I chose to re-establish care with him because of that experience. He takes the time to thoroughly look into everything and makes you feel heard. The front desk and staff are also friendly, professional, and helpful. They make check-in smooth and create a welcoming environment from the moment you walk in.
Mom and I appreciated her first appointment with Dr. Pugar. Within minutes he had earned her trust enough to convince her to go through an evaluation she’s previously intended to refuse. He took notes as he asked questions and the summary matched what he shared in the visit, inserting caveats as indicated. It helped the overwhelming situation we found ourselves in.
He explained what could be going on with me .He is one of the best doctors I've had He let's you know what you're going to have to do to make your problem easier to deal with

Dr. Pugar was very nice and spent time with me and answered all my questions. He took time with me and didn’t rush. He is really nice and down to earth. Everyone in the office was very nice with no wait. They took me to the room very quick. . If you need a neurologist I would recommend him.

First of all, Dr Pugar always welcomes you with a smile. He listens to what you say and helps anyway he can. Although I respect all my doctors, I feel like Dr.Pugar goes above and beyond the others to investigate and determine what is going on.

My Mother is 98 years old (will be 99 in 2 months) and was seen by Dr Pugar for a first visit two weeks ago. Dr Pugar was extremely respectful, listened carefully to my mom’s responses and understood the extenuating circumstances due to my mother's blindness and partial hearing. It was a great experience (which I was not expecting) and I would highly recommend him. His empathy, honesty and caution about prescribing additional medications or ordering never ending tests that won’t help normal aging was a breath of fresh air! I worked in the medical field for over 30 years and only two other times met specialists who practiced honest common sense medicine. Thank you Dr. Pugar.
