Dr. Shakiba recognized early on that many women with severe pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, or bladder issues were being misdiagnosed or referred to mental health services instead of receiving accurate pelvic care. He questioned why there were no clear answers for widespread symptoms such as severe menstrual pain, unexplained infertility, or GI distress tied to pelvic nerve inflammation.
Conditions like polycystic ovarian syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, and interstitial cystitis are often labeled but rarely explained. In many cases, no root cause is identified, and treatments focus only on symptom relief — leaving patients confused and discouraged.
Through years of multidisciplinary patient care, Dr. Shakiba discovered that many of these symptoms were connected by a common thread: neuropelveology, the study of pelvic nerve function. Yet few specialists were trained to look at pelvic health holistically.

Knowledgeable on Menopause . I started at age 4o,I'm now 76. I read lots and thought I was well informed - NOT Knows how to listen. Already solved 2 of my issues.
I had an extremely positive experience. Dr Kateryna and staff were extremely caring and respectful and professional. Dr Kateryna took her time with me. I did not feel rushed. I feel she is an exceptionally caring doctor, that she really cares for each patient and gives 100% to each individual.
