Dr. Kacmar is an independent family physician who is board-certified in both primary care and sports medicine. A former collegiate football athlete and active adult, Dr. Kacmar recognizes the value of preventing and treating sports injuries from the young school age athlete through the aging adult. With a focus in primary care, Dr. Kacmar is able to care for all ages from routine medical care, preventative exam or acute care needs. Dr. Kacmar remains an admitting physician at Edward Hospital.
Dr. Kacmar's practice interests include orthopedic injuries, critical illness, acute illnesses, acute injury, and patients who are chronically ill seeking a diagnosis. Dr. Kacmar's years of experience and dedication to the continued study of medicine have allowed him to have a holistic approach and updated knowledge of evidence-based working practice.
Dr. Kacmar attended Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois. His fellowship in sports medicine at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. He has remained Medical Director for The Center for Primary Care and Sports Medicine since 2002. He continues to remain committed to future physicians as a preceptor for Loyola University.

I have been with Dr. Kacmar for some years now. I have always been pleased with the friendliness of the staff and the personal care I was offered. It was super easy to set up for appointment, and my results always came within 24-48 hours!
This practice was recommended by a friend. I saw a stand-in for our typical family doctor who was booked out and the alternate Dr diagnosed it as a sinus infection but I knew that could not be right as I was so fatigued. I called this practice and they squeezed me in same day (!) to see their wonderful nurse practitioner. She took a chest X-ray and immediately diagnosed it as double pneumonia. Wow, what a great team - so responsive! And nice
Like every visit excellent. I drive 62 miles from Chicago. It is a very enjoyable ride.

Dr Kacmar saved my life by getting me out of the Naperville Hospital who had me on a ventilator unnecessarily and moved me to Marionjoy for 2 weeks of rehab then moved me home for my wife to complete my recovery. Without Dr Kacmars intervention , I would b dead.

Always a great visit. Dr Kacmar is extremely knowledgeable and is a superior doctor. His staff is great and the office environment is comfortable and welcoming . Dr Kacmar has always solved our medical issues and if and a few occasions when he needed to provide a doctor’s referral for a specific medical condition, we have found that his referrals have always been great doctors.

The staff were great. They saw me for the first time for an emergent appointment. The Doctor listened to my concerns, took his time, and showed compassion. He prescribed a different course of treatment than what I was on from an Urgent Care center and in less than 24 hours, I'm already feeling better. He told me if I'm not feeling significantly better im 3 days to call back so I don't go into weekend feeling like this.

If you want all around excellence you should be going to the Center for Primary Care and Sports Medicine! From the time you walk in the door until the time you leave everyone is compassionate , caring and helpful! Dr. Kacmar and Shannon have managed to create a professional and caring environment that can not be beat! The office staff is amazing! They are top notch professionals and always friendly and helpful! Dr. Kacmar has saved lives of my closest family members. He will not stop until he has found a solution! He does not let anyone interfere with what his patient needs! He could not accomplish such excellence without the help of Shannon , who as a nurse practitioner has given me absolute excellent care and runs everything in that office , with the help of Rachael, Vanessa and Michelle. Dr Kacmar is professional and respects the patient. If we had been at this practice sooner my son would not have had to go through a needless surgery for something found and remedied a much less invasive way. I can’t say enough about Dr Kacmar, his PA and how they practice medicine.
