Dr. Kacmar is an independent family physician who is board-certified in both primary care and sports medicine. A former collegiate football athlete and active adult, Dr. Kacmar recognizes the value of preventing and treating sports injuries from the young school age athlete through the aging adult. With a focus in primary care, Dr. Kacmar is able to care for all ages from routine medical care, preventative exam or acute care needs. Dr. Kacmar remains an admitting physician at Edward Hospital.
Dr. Kacmar's practice interests include orthopedic injuries, critical illness, acute illnesses, acute injury, and patients who are chronically ill seeking a diagnosis. Dr. Kacmar's years of experience and dedication to the continued study of medicine have allowed him to have a holistic approach and updated knowledge of evidence-based working practice.
Dr. Kacmar attended Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois. His fellowship in sports medicine at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. He has remained Medical Director for The Center for Primary Care and Sports Medicine since 2002. He continues to remain committed to future physicians as a preceptor for Loyola University.

dr. kacmar has been our family doctor for a very long time, he treats you as a human being as opposed to just another patient. On several occasions, he has literally saved my life because he dug deeper into medical issues that I was having. Well, other doctors did not understand what was going on. He took the time to dig in to everything that was going on and coming up with the correct treatments. He truly cares about his patience.
Dr. Kacmar ALWAYS takes his time and listens. We have been his patients for many years and he knows us so well he asks questions that I didn’t even know were relevant based on my past medical history. He always does his research. And, he’s always patient and kind!!
