Dr. Lindsey Kanno is the Lower Extremity Salvage Fellow at Albuquerque Associated Podiatrists, where she is receiving advanced fellowship training in diabetic limb salvage, complex wound care, Charcot reconstruction, foot and ankle trauma, and multidisciplinary management of patients at risk for amputation. She joined the fellowship after completing an intensive Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at Christiana Care Health Services in Wilmington, Delaware.
Throughout her training, Dr. Kanno developed a passion for caring for patients with diabetic foot infections, chronic wounds, Charcot neuroarthropathy, peripheral arterial disease, and other complex lower extremity conditions. She believes that successful limb preservation requires thoughtful clinical decision making, collaboration among multiple medical specialties, and compassionate, patient-centered care.
Dr. Kanno earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and History from Mount Holyoke College. During residency, she served as Chief Resident and Academic Coordinator, demonstrating leadership in surgical education, resident training, and evidence-based medicine.
She has extensive experience in advanced wound care, surgical reconstruction, diabetic foot management, fracture care, and office-based procedures. Her training includes numerous cadaveric surgical courses and advanced workshops in external fixation, wound reconstruction, total contact casting, arthroscopy, skin substitutes, negative pressure wound therapy, and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Kanno is also actively involved in research and medical education. She has presented award-winning research at national meetings, including the American Podiatric Medical Association and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, with work focusing on complex limb salvage, Charcot reconstruction, infectious diseases, and wound care. In 2025, she earned Third Place nationally in the Resident category of the APMA Outstanding Poster Abstract Award, recognizing the excellence and impact of her research.
As a fellow at Albuquerque Associated Podiatrists, Dr. Kanno works closely with our limb salvage team to provide comprehensive care for patients with diabetic foot ulcers, infections, vascular disease, Charcot deformity, and other complex foot and ankle conditions. Her goal is to help patients preserve mobility, prevent amputation whenever possible, and improve quality of life through evidence-based, compassionate care.
