I have always believed in holistic care which may or may not encompass medication treatment. The mind and body being in harmony is an important aspect of health care that sometimes gets overlooked. I worked many years as a cardiac critical care nurse before transitioning to Advanced Practice Nursing as a family NP. I saw how supportive people in the patient's environment can affect illnesses and recovery. I completed my doctorate, concentrating on why people choose to enter, leave, or re-enter a Medication Assisted Treatment program. At this point, I entered into the psychiatric program to better my understanding of the brain and how it functions and fails to function.
