About Marilyn Cornish, PhD

My approach to therapy is evidence-based, which means that I follow what the research says about what makes therapy effective. In addition, my approach is trauma-informed to promote safety, empowerment, and healing. I practice mostly from interpersonal and emotion-focused perspectives, but I modify my approach to meet your needs. I also view the therapeutic relationship between you and I to be important for treatment success. Because of this, I work to provide a safe and supportive environment that is also “empathically challenging” to promote growth. In addition, I am interested in who you are and how you view the world. I respect your cultural and personal values as important guides in our work together. You can also expect that I will emphasize your strengths. This can help you to reconnect with internal resources that you may have lost touch with. I look forward to working alongside you!
