Melhem Dandan, MD, FACOG, FAAFP, is board-certified in both OB/GYN and Family Medicine, giving him the unique training and experience needed to manage his patients at Westover Hills Women’s Health in San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Dandan received his medical degree in 1993 from Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria. He completed his OB/GYN training at the University of California, Los Angeles, and Kern Medical Center. Prior to that, he finished family practice residency training at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago.
After getting his board certification, he practiced medicine in Merced, California, for seven years, where he served as the medical director of a women’s health clinic and in the Department of Public Health. During this time, he was a member of the teaching faculty at the University of California, Davis, and the San Joaquin Valley Community Colleges to help train future generations of nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
Dr. Dandan moved to beautiful San Antonio in 2012, where he owned and operated a successful OB/GYN clinic on the southside for 6 years before joining forces with the Baptist Physician Network, then Steward Medical Group, and Christus Health system. He recently joined us at Westover Hills Women's Health to continue with his passion for improving the health of women in San Antonio and delivering up-to-date, best obstetrics and Gynecological medicine there is to his community. He continues to teach and is currently an associate faculty at the UIW, teaching medical students and residents in his offices and during his rounds in the hospitals.
Dr. Dandan is affiliated with several San Antonio hospitals. He performs gynecologic robotic surgeries, major pelvic and obstetrical surgeries, laparoscopic surgeries, Urinary incontinence surgeries, and numerous minimally invasive surgeries in hospitals and offices, like family planning procedures, aesthetics, and hormonal pellets insertions for proper candidates.

During my visit with Dr. Leslie Brown, she was also attentive, patient with my questions and concerns and best of all she gave me all the information I needed to feel confident I understood everything from our visit as I left, and that all my needs and concerns were addressed.

My goodness! This place gets busy busy busy! I’ve never seen so many very pregnant ladies in one place at the same time! Yet the staff and doctors do n amazing job keeping their cool, quick, efficient and helpful. The visit felt rushed compared to any other women’s clinic I have been to in my life time BUT as I mentioned in the beginning , I have never seen so many super pregnant women in one place . I was cool with the rushed visit, the pregnant ladies needed more attention than I did! I just went in for routine annual check up. The doctor was friendly, strongly knowledgeable n obviously experienced!
