Dr. Trombley, a native of Glen Falls, New York, studied his bachelor’s degree at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, from where he graduated as a Presidential Scholar and magna cum laude in 1987. Dr. Trombley completed his medical degree in 1991 at the University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, New York, and undertook his residency in family medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he served as chief resident.
After completing his residency in 1994, Dr. Trombley took up a position at Cabarrus Family Medicine in the Charlotte suburbs of North Carolina. He also had associate faculty appointments with Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina, and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
In addition to his role as a family physician, Dr. Trombley was a travel speaker for Abbott Laboratories, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, and Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals, and he was a medical consultant for the Ace & TJ radio show in Charlotte, North Carolina. He previously was the medical director of Brian Center Rehabilitation in Concord, North Carolina.
