As I've stated on previous reviews, Urology is one of the medical specialties that I fear the most. It is right up there with an Endodontist. I'm always in fear of these professionals bringing out their tray of "torture" toolsShow more to carry out some procedure. I feel this way because because urology deals with areas of the human body that are (for me) the most private and the most sensitive to pain. This is my fourth visit in three years with Dr. Trotter and this visit was just as educational and reassuring as my previous visits. Because I am no longer a "new patient" and he has allayed my initial fears and perceptions of a urologist, I actually enjoy my conversations with Dr. Trotter. As always, he has a calm and professional demeanor and even a great sense of humor. His conversations convey that he cares about me as a whole person and not just my urological problem. I will probably always be leery of having a urological procedure, but I do feel like I can trust Dr. Trotter to provide me the necessary information to make a decision that is appropriate for me and my well being. I'm not always the best at selecting physicians, but I do think that I picked an outstanding one when I made an appointment with Dr. Trotter. His staff are also extremely helpful and courteous which also helps to dampen my anxiety level. I am a grateful and satisfied patient.
Our experience with Dr. Trotter was nothing less than perfect. My son (16) was fortunate enough to get an appointment with Dr. Trotter. Unbeknownst to me Midtown Urology's only see’s adults. When I first attempted to schedule his Show moreappointment I left a message. Leaving messages that are not returned in a timely manner has left me somewhat apprehensive. True to their recording I did receive a call back the same afternoon and to my disappointment I learned they do not see minors. Hanging up the phone I then scheduled an appointment with another practice. Good luck was on our side, we received a call back from Dr. Trotters office asking us if we were able to come in and see Dr. Trotter because he had a last minute appointment cancel. From the time we checked in, to the time we checked out, everyone involved were nothing less than impeccable. Dr. Trotter and his entire staff represent nothing but professionalism at its finest. Thank you sir and your entire team for making my sons experience one that he will remember and carry with him moving forward in life.
At Midtown Urology Associates in Austin, Texas, Dr. Michael Trotter strives to improve the lives of every patient in his care through his specialization in vasectomies, male infertility, prostate health, erectile dysfunction, urinary tract infections, and male and female incontinence.
As a proud lifelong resident of Austin, Dr. Trotter began his education at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
He expanded his skills and experience through a residency in urology at the University of New Mexico, before returning to Austin and opening Midtown Urology Associates in 2005.
Dr. Trotter is board certified by the American Board of Urology.
When not at work, Dr. Trotter can be found spending time with his wife, daughter, and their dogs. He enjoys the outdoors, and pursues hunting, fishing, and playing golf, among other activities.
The biggest reason I chose urology is that you go to medical school and do all of these rotations. The ones I kept enjoying the most and had the most fun seemed to be the urologists. There are very few specialties that allow you to follow patients throughout their entire life; kidney stones, for instance, is a life-long disease. So you establish relationships with these patients. You get a unique combination of patient relationships and continue to do surgical-related procedures. It makes it unique compared to a lot of other medical fields. I treat patients the same way I want to be treated. It goes a long way with the empathy you portray. Empathy is difficult for people to know how to express when you haven't gone through it yourself. That is a huge part of how we manage our practice.

Dr. Trotter and his team were exemplary in communication and execution of everything before, during, and after the procedure. Made everything as easy as possible for me, to the point where I was surprised at how little I had to do considering other practices I've engaged with. Highly recommend!

I just moved to Austin and this was my first appointment with Dr. Trotter. He was very attentive and understood my past history with health issues. He asked several questions and thoroughly explained answers to my questions. It is always hard finding new doctors when moving into a city from another state. I am extremely glad I found Dr. Trotter.

Dr. Trotter has been my urologist for the past three + years and has been not only an excellent doctor, but he makes you feel comfortable and easy to talk to.
