I’ve been seeing Chris in the Covington office going on a year now. He is the first Dr I’ve seen who is trying to improve my day to day functionality by treating my pain with the hopes of improving my day to day life and having aShow more goal of working towards reducing the amount of drugs I take every day. I had never even met Dr Joiner before this past Monday. I came to the Roanoke office for my first epidural injection in my neck. Even though there was a mixup with my appt, and he was working me in, not once did he seem rushed or irritated. I would recommend him to absolutely anyone. He is kind, patient and really seems to understand how pain can affect a persons wellbeing….. Thank you Dr. Joiner and Chris Karaffa for all you do…..
I had a cervical injection today with Dr Joiner. I had to wait probably 30 minutes once I was on the table for the injection, which I totally understand that some procedures take longer with some patients, I always plan on having Show moreto wait an hour just in case but most of the time I'm in and out very quick. Dr Joiner is the best if ever seen with spinal injections (he's probably given me 40 to 50 over the last several years, not to mention several nerve ablations) and i won't see anyone else! I highly recommend him and his associates, they have been wonderful to help me with severe osteo and rheumatoid arthritis in my spine and other joints. I would send my best friend to see them if they were in pain.

Appointment no found in system, however I had a confirmation of appointment. This constituted a work in since I had driven 1.5 hours to make the appointment. Over all a 15 minute appointment took about three and a half hours.
Great experience, except it was a 2 hour wait and a 1-hour Dr visit. I feel had had a great exam from Dr Joiner. He took down a lot of information and ask a lot of questions. He tried hard not to miss anything! So nice and friendly! Reva Blount
I have been a patient of Dr Joiner for more than 10 years. He and his PAs have kept me going. When the Orthopedic group to me there was nothing they could do to help me, Dr Joiner listened to me and have helped control my chronic pain and allowed me to continue to pursue my passion of riding and showing my horses! Through a combination of procedures such as nerve root blocks, epidural steroid injections, and medication management, in addition spinal fusion and a spinal cord stimulator have helped too! So thankful for Dr Joiner and his team. They have improved my quality of life and allowed me to be active!

Dr. Joiner is awesome. I love his technique to keep you calm as he's sticking me lol. He starts with conversations of interest and before you know it, it's over. I refuse to let anyone else administer my tailbone injections. He's awesome

Dr. Joyner and his staff provided fantastic care. They were thorough, friendly and extremely kind. Dr. Joyner performed this procedure seamlessly. I never felt any pain and it was done very quickly. It was very different from the experience I had at different practice. Patrick answered all of my questions with great detail and attention. I would highly recommend this practice.

I have been going to Dr. Joiner for years and he has been the only doctor to help with my lower back pain and meralgia parasthetica in my left leg. He performs my epidural steroid injections as needed and so does his other PA Patrick. His PA Holly Martin is amazing and has been able to help keep my pain under control without oral pain meds until recently when the MRI she ordered showed that my back had gotten worse. She ordered me a surgical consult which is scheduled. Everyone in their office is so attentive, kind and treats you with respect. If you have to wait and that doesn’t occur often then this staff is worth waiting on!! I would not want to go anywhere else!! Other staff are amazing too! Susie, Brenda, Anthony, Stephanie and all the rest are amazing!! Sorry I can’t remember everyone’s name- brain freeze lol..They have my number one vote in knowledge and kindness!! Thanks so much!!
I was totally discouraged at my last appointment! I was left on the examining table for over an hour. I was lying on my stomach and I got leg cramps, had to go to the bathroom and was totally freezing. I am short and I have a difficult time getting off the table and I finally was off to go to the bathroom, I returned to the room and put my coat on to stay warm. I waited another 15 minutes and I went to the lobby to get warm. I told the receptionist when they were finally ready to give me my shots I would be in the L lobby trying to get warm. I was finally taken back and received the shots. The past two time the shots worked but didn’t this time. I drove home with a headache and completely worn out. I kept calling for someone to give me assistance to get off the table but no one showed up. I was there over 3 hours! This has never happened there before. I willl discuss it with my back doctor next week what I need to do now!
I have been a patient of Dr. Joiner’s at his Roanoke Office for more than 20 years. Unfortunately, I have endured 2 back surgeries with extensive hardware and it is not likely that my condition will ever improve. I decided after several years to help endure the pain to go back to nerve blocks. I had not seen Dr. Joiner in a number of years, but requested his expertise specifically. The most warm and welcoming folks you'll find are in this office! My most recent procedure was preformed with such skill and precision that the "bee sting" was all i felt. Coupled with good old-fashioned bedside manner, they not only treat my physical pain, but my spirit too. As I have been in pain for quite some time and that tends to brings you down a little day after day. I feel so much better and I no longer wish to cut my arm off. Dr Joiner is amazing I barely felt the procedure!
I had a neck ablation done and it was an awful experience. They took me back in a private room and gave me IM Versed but I did not have the actual procedure done for an hour after that so the medication had no effect. I told the X-ray technician that I did not feel the medication and she dismissed it as it was IM and said it stays longer in my system. I was placed on the procedure table on my stomach hooked up to the ground pad and I couldn’t move. She left and said her and the doctor would be back. I laid there in that position for 30 minutes with neck and back pain. The doctor came in and just immediately started chitchatting and started the procedure without apologizing for leaving me there for so long or asking if I’m ok. During this painful procedure, the doctor and the X-ray technician totally dismissed me and gossiped about the work place the entire time. Afterwards, no one gave me any aftercare instructions or anything helpful. They just pointed me to the checkout staff.
Thank you for allowing me to be your patient. You went above and beyond with my care, as well as educated me on my condition. Always so positive to talk to, highly recommend! Thank you for my care .
