Nilamben Patel, DO, FAAAAI, is dual board-certified in allergy and immunology and internal medicine. She currently sees patients at Sunshine Allergy and Asthma in North Port, Florida.
Dr. Patel graduated in the top 10% of her class and trained in internal medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She spearheaded several research projects in the allergy department and was published in three short years in areas of food allergy and asthma.
She joined Boston Medical Center for an allergy and immunology fellowship, where she honed her diagnostic skills in food allergy, eczema, asthma, and immunodeficiency. She was invited to present her research projects at the 2017, 2018, and 2019 national allergy conferences. Dr. Patel served as a member of the committee to enhance education and research for trainees and was a mentor for future allergists.
After graduation, Dr. Patel joined the prestigious University of Massachusetts Medical School as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics. She was co-director of the Allergy Clinic and director of the Pediatric Allergy Clinic. She served as a faculty member for medical students, resident trainees, and fellow trainees.
She moved to Florida with her husband and dog in 2020 to help serve her community and provide top-notch care. At Sunshine Allergy and Asthma, Dr. Patel is dedicated to providing comprehensive, thorough, evidence-based care throughout shared decision-making. Office staff and Md were friendly and knowledgeable. We got great feedback and didn’t get extra tests that were not needed. I would definitely go back.

All the staff were friendly and efficient but that seemed to result in the feeling that Dr Patel was just rushing through the appointment.
Dr Patel is great. I’ve been through numerous Drs to get some answers and she was the only one that provided a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Always a pleasant experience when I bring my child in for a visit and regular treatment. As a frequent patient for our longterm care with treatments and routine tests, the staff is always very welcoming and understanding. Some days require more patience than other days with my child and they do a fantastic job caring for him. I would recommend Sunshine Allergy for not only adult care, but for Pediatric care as well. Dr. Patel and Cindy really take the time to get to know my son so he can receive the best care that they can provide for him. :)

Very patient and thorough.
Had a great experience with her. Explained my situation and she knew right off what my problem was & started on a treatment right away. I've been to different doctors which could not come up with an answer including a dermatologist. So I went to Dr.Petel and she Knew right away what my situation was. Would highly recommend Dr.Petel to anyone who has a stubbern rash that doesn't go away!
