About Dr Oyije Iheagwara, MD

Oyije Susannah Iheagwara, MD,  is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology. She practices at Metro Renal Associates in Washington, DC. 

Dr. Iheagwara completed a nephrology fellowship at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC and has a Master's in clinical and translation research from Georgetown University. 

Dr. Iheagwara is a member of several professional societies and is certified as Hypertension Specialist by the American Society of Hypertension. 

Before joining Metro renal Associates in 2022, she worked in academia for several years, where she assisted with the teaching of medical students and residents in training at Howard University. She now returns to private practice bringing her cutting-edge nephrology knowledge and wonderful bedside manner to help kidney disease patients in the DC Metro area. Her clinical interests include the management of chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and electrolyte disorders. 

Dr. Iheagwara is passionate about the care she provides and believes optimal healthcare involves a partnership between the patient and the provider. She strives to educate her patients about their disease conditions fully.

She is married and has three children. She enjoys reading, writing poetry, listening to audiobooks, and working out in her free time.
