Dr. Scanlon is a native of Jackson and completed his undergraduate studies at Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi. While attending Ole Miss, he spent a summer working in the operating room at Lakeland Surgical Group, where he developed an interest in surgery and meaningful, lasting relationships with some of the surgeons.
After attending Ole Miss, Dr. Scanlon went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1994. He then completed his surgical residency at the Carraway Methodist Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama, in 1999.
One of the things that Dr. Scanlon finds particularly rewarding is when primary care physicians instill their trust in Lakeland Surgical Clinic, PLLC, and refer their patients to them for surgery.
Dr. Scanlon is a Diplomate of The American Board of Surgery, a Member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons. Dr. Scanlon has recently been certified in Hidden Scar Breast Cancer Surgery.

Good job
My procedure went by quick and everything was good. After surgery, it felt as I was being rushed to be discharged even after telling him I was still in pain/discomfort. His attitude after the surgery lead to the 1-star review, but again everything went well and went by quick and he explained everything of what he was going to do.
Dr Scanlon and his staff are one of the best. He performed surgery on me twice before and I’ve had very good results I highly recommend Dr. Scanlon
