I look forward to seeing Dr. Salzer when I have a trigger finger problem because I have never had to return for surgery. His technique has worked every time over the years! He is always personable and thoroughly explains the problShow moreem and the treatment avenues. I appreciate that he lets me offer my desire for treatment and if he does not concur he explains why. Even though I have had repeated exposure to the two stages of the injection (the initial needle insertion and then the final needle placement to restore tendon motion), I rely on Dr. Salzer to tell me what he is doing so I can mentally prepare for the excruciating pain that is about to come!
Dr. Souza is always amazing. I went in for my knee bothering me. I needed another injection but I had an additional problem my Achilles tendon because my walk was offkilter from my knee. It affected my other leg. He was wonderful Show moreexamined me. I got my injection on my right knee beautiful he got me fitted for a boot for my left ankle to give it some support so that I would not utilize it to offset my knee corrected both problems. I am extremely happy between the injection, my boot and a Motrin 800. I am ecstatic this morning when I woke up very happy would recommend him to anybody that wants to get back to life.

Education and TrainingA native of New Orleans, Dr. Salzer completed medical school and residency at Tulane University, followed by advanced training in sports medicine at the prestigious Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia, under the direction of Drs. Jack Hughston and James Andrews.
Dr. Salzer established Beaufort Orthopaedic Sports & Spine (now BOSS) in 1987 to fill the local need for state-of-the-art orthopaedic care with an emphasis on principles of sports medicine, utilizing physical therapy extensively, with surgeries only done in the context of the rehabilitation process.
Practice PhilosophyAlthough many of these techniques were originally developed for athletes, Dr. Salzer applies the same principles to problems that are common to the general population with outstanding outcomes.
Practice LocationsDr. Salzer has a broad range of interests in orthopaedics and approaches every patient on a comprehensive basis. Whenever possible, he focuses on non-operative treatment and improving patients’ conditioning and flexibility before surgical consideration.
Dr. Salzer has surgical and non-operative experience in treating a broad variety of orthopaedic conditions, including spine, hip, knee, and shoulder. He also has expertise in hand surgery, treating a wide variety of hand disorders. Although he was trained in spine surgery, he now focuses on the non-operative conservative management of spine disorders. When surgery is needed, he refers patients to his partners, orthopaedic spine surgeons, Drs. Scott Strohmeyer and Andrew Castro.

Dr Salzer has always been straightforward with me about the treatments for my knee. He explained each progress going forward and the outcome it could produce and will recommend other measures if the current ones are not successful. He’s always been jovial with me
DR. SALZER is the best around. I travel one hour to be in his care and it's worth the trip. He and his staff are caring and professional. I was told I n needed back surgery. He said no I need PT.
