Ronald Cohen, MD, is a board-certified specialist in both Family and Sports Medicine. Dr. Cohen is in the top 1% of America’s doctors when it comes to experience and training in regenerative orthopedic treatments – nonsurgical solutions to improve function and reduce pain. At Coastal Regenerative Orthopedics & Wellness Center, he is proud to use his expertise to care for patients throughout San Diego, California.
For the first 11 years of his medical career, Dr. Cohen was contracted by the Department of Defense to manage and direct the Sports Medicine & Reconditioning program for all of the Marine Corps recruits in the western United States as well as to serve as a special consultant for the Navy SEALs.
He has had extensive experience and training in managing difficult injuries and chronic conditions and has been a licensed Regenexx® affiliate since undergoing advanced regenerative orthopedics training with the Regenexx founders in 2013. As the leading Regenexx provider in San Diego, Dr. Cohen is excited to provide the Advanced Regenexx Procedures to patients throughout the community.
Dr. Cohen has had a distinguished career in medicine and has been recognized by his peers as an outstanding clinician, winning several renowned awards, including the prestigious Master Clinician award as well as being appointed as Assistant Clinical Professor (voluntary) at UCSD School of Medicine.

Have had my shoulder, elbow and now left knee done, all have great results with mild to almost no pain for me. I believe this is a good alternative to surgery if possible, Dr Cohen is very professional and will tell you if he can help or not.

I wish had gone to Dr. Cohen much sooner than I did. Regardless, he found the issue on Day 1 and was able to immediately put me on track to resolving the issue. He's extremely thorough and very good about explaining to me what exactly was going on. His staff is top shelf, very professional and very friendly. The facility is state of the art, virtually everything can be done right on site.

I had PRP done on my back and knees on 5/30/2024. I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience with all the team members at Coastal Regenerative Orthopedics and Wellness Center. What a truly fantastic practice they have. When I had my initial knee consult with Dr. Cohen followed by my back consult with Dr. Costanzo, I was so impressed with not only their technical competence and thorough examinations but also how personable they both were and how interested they were in ensuring I had all my questions answered. During the day of the procedures, those first impressions were not only confirmed but amplified by the level of care I received from the entire staff. I’m not a big fan of having my blood drawn and Patty and Candice made that process so easy. Candice then stayed with me for both procedures assisting Doctor Costanzo and Doctor Cohen. It was quite clear to see how competent, professional, personable and empathetic Candice is and how wonderfully she represents their practice.
