I live in Montrose. It is worth it to find a driver to help me make the BASALT turn around once a month. Interacting with an ophthalmologist who knows precisely what he is doing, can convey it to me and answer any questions I mShow moreay have with respect, interest and sometimes even humor, is a godsend.i hav I found none of those qualities in Montrose or Grand Junction.. And of the three Denver doctors who satellite to BASALT in monthly rotation, Dr. CHOD is the fastest shooter in the West.

Ross Chod, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon (or retina specialist). Dr. Chod founded Retina Specialists of Colorado in 2018 to provide Coloradans with the utmost in exceptional and compassionate retina care.
After growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Chod received his medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine in 2012. Dr. Chod completed his ophthalmology residency at St. Louis University. From there, Dr. Chod did fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City, before moving to Colorado to start Retina Specialists of Colorado.
Throughout his education and career, Dr. Chod has been published in numerous esteemed ophthalmic journals and has presented papers on his work at national ophthalmology meetings.
When he is out of the office, Dr. Chod takes great joy in spending time with his family, including his wife and three children. He also enjoys staying active with skiing, golf, and ice hockey.

Appointment takes a couple hours. See the doctor for about three minutes.
All went well . Time spent in the waiting room was good . Questions were answered by staff . By the way I do have a eye doctor in Dillon . Her name is Dr Ward through the V A once a year . If that could be updated in my file . Thanks Jim Scalise
This was an exceptionally disturbing experience. I had the eye exams and was prepped for injections. Dr. Chod came in and said abruptly that he couldn’t give me the injections because my insurance was out of network. I said I’d pay out of pocket then, and he replied in an angry manner, “You don’t have 20,000 dollars.” I asked how much an injection was, and he said it was $3,000 for just the medication, and there would be a series. He also said something about protecting his practice. Overall, he was rude, condescending, and angry-acting. I paid for my useless eye exams and left. I have since found another practice of retina specialists that contacted my out-of-network insurance, verified that they will indeed cover treatment, and established the payment arrangements (a simple co-pay). I have started treatment, and find them to be courteous, competent, and supportive. I would never recommend Dr. Chod, not Retina Specialists of Colorado.

A long wait but the procedure was quick and thorough. I didn’t feel rushed and felt that my questions would be answered if I asked.

I woke up one morning and couldn’t see faces out of my left eye. I called my doctor that always does my eye check ups. He checked me and sent me to Dr. Chod. I have been getting excellent care under Dr. Chod. I will drive anywhere to get the treatment. He and his staff are very good.
