I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker. I've worked with the vulnerable and underserved population for over 14 years; clients who have suffered from severe and persistent mental illnesses. Therapy can sometimes take us to uncomfortable places, but I've learned that wonderfulthings can happen outside of our comfort zone. I believe in the idea of mindfulness and handling ourselves/others with grace. I work collaboratively with my clients, by utilizing their strengths to help stimulate change and progress. I have a client-centered approach; which seeks to empower and guide the development of self-awareness and insight. Seeking help can often retraumatize an individual. Therefore, offering a supportive environment for clients to develop healthy behaviors, and coping skills is an important part of the therapeutic process. One's trauma and experiences are not often unique, but the individual is unique and must be treated as such. I have utilized a variety of methods; including CBT, MI, DBT, psychodynamic theory, and strength-based perspective to assist my clients with their daily life struggles. It's vital that as a therapist I'm present in the moment, and that I can listen empathetically. Mental Health does not need to be a stigma.Therapy requires hard work; so I thank my clients who consistently show up for themselves.
