Dr. Strohmeyer is exactly what you want from a doctor when you go to a doctors appointment. He walks in the room and gets straight to the point of why you are there knowing you really do not want to hear it He told me I need shouShow morelder replacement . He showed me the x-ray. Stating it is bone on bone. Being direct but, with a a confidence and tone you trust what he is telling you and you feel in his hands you will be O,K. A calming manner He gives you options but, replacement is the best. You can tell everyone on the office thinks he is a good guy and the little old ladies in waiting room find him charming.. He is one of a kind ..I have spent way too much time stuck in a room with a doctor talking me to death about everything else but, why I made the appointment. Most appreciated.
This was my first time meeting Dr Strohmeyer. Fortunately for me, my steroid burst had kicked in and my pain had significantly subsided over the weekend before my appointment. Dr Srohmeyer was easy to converse with and knew exactShow morely where my pain was. He directed me to start physical therapy. I am glad that I was able to establish a baseline visit with him as I have had spine surgery in the past long before I moved to the lowcountry.
About Dr. Strohmeyer
Scott E. Strohmeyer, MD, is board certified in orthopaedic surgery, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of adult and pediatric spinal disorders. He is proud to serve patients at Beaufort Orthopaedic Sports & Spine in Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head, South Carolina.
After graduating with honors from Auburn University, Dr. Strohmeyer received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama (USA). He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery from USA and completed his fellowship training in spine surgery at Louisiana State University.
Dr. Strohmeyer’s clinical interests include all disorders of the degenerative spine. He has a special interest in conservative non-operative treatment of spinal disorders, which allows his patients to continue an active lifestyle. When possible, Dr. Strohmeyer utilizes minimally invasive techniques to ensure a quick recovery.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the North American Spine Society and South Carolina Spine Society. He continues to be active with the AO Foundation in teaching new advances in spinal care and new surgical techniques.
Dr. Strohmeyer is married to Dr. JoAnn Csakany, a board-certified OB/GYN, and they have two daughters, Abigail and Mary Alice.

Dr. Strohmeyer is wonderful! He fixed my back again. I like that he gets right to the point. He tells you what the problem is, how he can fix it, and you decide. I could not walk before this fusion, tomorrow will be two weeks since the fusion and already feeling better. He is an outstanding surgeon, and has become a good friend!
