Board-certified dermatologist Shirley Chi, MD, specializes in medical and cosmetic dermatology, emphasizing patient advocacy and education. Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Southern California, Dr. Chi received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, graduating cum laude with a major in philosophy. She earned her medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School with the highest honors, completed her dermatology residency at Cook County Hospital in downtown Chicago, and served as chief resident during her final year.
Dr. Chi has taught at the University of California, Los Angeles, and previously served as the Director of Dermatology Resident Education at Olive View-UCLA Hospital. She has also previously taught at Loma Linda University and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Dr. Chi received the President of the United States Volunteer Service Award for her dedication to teaching future doctors.
In her free time, Dr. Chi chases around two young children and enjoys spending time with friends, hiking, and traveling. She also loves to read, watch movies, and learn about different cultures and languages. Besides her native English, Dr. Chi speaks French, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese.

Dr Chi is my dermatologist for a few years , she is one of the best doctors I ever met. She is full of confidence and she always has been very supportive and helpful to my needs. I always recommend her for her profesional experience.

Dr Chi has been my dermatologist for 10 years. I initially came to the office for acne treatment, and over time, have tried cosmetic procedures such as Botox and fillers. Dr Chi always achieves natural results. I look like myself, just more youthful and refreshed. She is an expert injector and I never bruise afterwards, even in the delicate under eye area. She never promotes treatments that I don't need. And she takes her time to listen to my goals for each visit. She is relatable, caring. Her staff is professional, friendly whether during my office visits or via phone when I have questions or want to make appointments. I now live an hour away from the office. Despite the distance, it is always worth my time to keep my dermatology care with Dr Chi. Highly recommend this practice!

Excellent. She is knowledgeable and thorough. She does comprehensive scans and is careful to detect any issues. Her recommendations have been extremely helpful and she will always ensure that everything is fully checked out and resolved. Her patience and caring make my visits comfortable and reassuring. I've had many dermatologists over the years and Dr Salgado is by far the best.
