Dr. Patel has been such a blessing to our family. My daughter has a condition that is not well understood in the medical community so it’s been very hard to find providers to care for her. Dr. Patel has stuck by our sides through Show moreit all. He’s been willing to look outside of the box to to help my girl stay well. The early years were hard. It was really nice having a doc that came alongside of us to help us get her through the rough stuff. I can’t say enough about how grateful I am to have found Dr. Patel.
The appt with Amy Duncan went great. The annoying part was the phone number you have to call and they they call you in. The receptionist wasnt very friendly and seemed overworked. I know its the protocol because of covid amd im juShow morest hoping that the front desk experience improves because it kind of sets the tone for the rest of the visit. Amy Duncan was great!
Tarak Patel, MD, is a caring and compassionate pediatric pulmonologist and a vital part of the team at Texas Pediatric Specialties and Family Sleep Center. He’s deeply touched to have served so many families in the Alamo Heights, Shavano Park, and Lockhill-Selma areas of San Antonio, Texas, area.
Dr. Patel has deep roots in Texas. He began his studies at the University of Texas at Austin, earning his degree in biology. He then studied medicine at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock.
He finished his clinical training in El Paso, where he enjoyed expanding his Spanish language skills and narrowed his area of focus to pediatric lung disease, and asthma in particular. He went on to complete his training in pediatric medicine at the University of Texas at Houston. His dedication to continuing education is exemplified through a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, also in Houston.
Throughout his studies, Dr. Patel found a great deal of fulfillment in working with various charitable organizations and in volunteer roles in medical clinics. He also continues to pursue ongoing education through lectures in a wide range of pediatric conditions. That breadth of knowledge has informed and shaped his patient care in countless ways.
Dr. Patel treats each patient as though they were one of his own children. The families that entrust him with their medical needs appreciate that personable approach and are comforted that their children are in the best of hands.

Dr. Patel is amazing. May take a few months to schedule a new patient appointment, but he’s well worth the wait.
Dr Patel is great, he helped us years ago in a great time of need. He taught us as parents how to deal with my kids asthma and he has taken great care of my daughter who I can proudly say hardly ever has issues. When she does we know how to deal with it and she leads a healthy normal life

Great Doctor and staff
Took son in during sick patient drop in hour to be seen for asthma flare that was getting out of hand. Dr. Patel was able listen to give us a revised plan. Also ruled out flu and COVID.
Waited too long.
Everyone was friendly and the facility was clean. The only thing was we waited almost an hour to be seen and when we did get seen the color was only in there for maybe 5minutes? It felt like everything was rushed and never got asked if we had questions or concerns about my son’s condition.
Great organization at the office and office staff is very kind.
We only had to wait a short time to see someone, and she was very knowledgeable.

We love Dr Richards and Amy Duncan. We love how they listen and actively involve our special needs child in his assessments. I love how compassionately they care & the attention to detail. We are grateful and blessed to have our child in some of the best hands!
Ms. Duncan is so professional and allows you to verbalize your childs needs. So far she has addressed every concern we have had when it comes to ny daughter. Really happy with the care she gives.

The employees are so easy and sweet with my child. Dr Duncan played with and listened to our issues and ha e worked hard trying different resolutions for the issue. I would defiantly recommend this location, employees and dr.

Dr. Patel was very direct with us which I appreciate. When it comes to care for our baby we need to know what is best for him and Dr. Patel did not sugar coat the possible consequences and set a great action plan in place to ensure our son gets just what he needs.
