My autistic son has been having unexplained weight loss, as monitored by Dr Hirose and Dr Doonan. He also has unexplained fevers, many bouts of fatigue and low tolerance for exertion, sometimes sharp pain upon exertion or picking Show moreup something heavy. He has unexplained vomiting and sometimes coughs but does not have a cold. His legs and feet frequently get swollen and are often very cold. He has a heart monitor but I’m not sure what it is calibrated to monitor. Boston Scientific said doctors can select what to monitor for and if it’s not selected, it won’t be discoverable. I have no idea how much is being monitored. I’m afraid for my son because autistic people don’t get the same kind of care and I see him suffering on a day to day basis. I worry that he may have had endocarditis or some sort of circulation problem in 2022 and 2023 because of his symptoms.
Dr. Mitiku is very patient to explain my condition and provides proper treatments to me. He is such a great reliable doctor that I can 100% trust . His nurse is also nice. Only thing I need is I need more detailed description for Show moreinstalling the monitor properly because I experienced twice the monitor dropped from my chest. How can i make it firm to prevent this happen? I think the pad is not stick enough to hold monitor. Can I add a tape to it? I'll be very appreciated to give more instruction so that DR Mitiku can get accurate test results. It is very important! Thanks! Louis Yang
Teferi Mitiku, MD, FACC, is a board-certified cardiologist in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiovascular Disease. He specializes in cardiac electrophysiology (EP) and provides the entire spectrum of arrhythmia treatments, including medical therapy, catheter ablation, and device-based therapy. Dr. Mitiku strives to provide compassionate care for his patients at Coastal Cardiology of Orange County in Irvine and Ladera Ranch, California.
Dr. Mitiku earned his Bachelor of Science in molecular cell and development biology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), graduating magna cum laude. He went on to attend the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, receiving his Doctor of Medicine.
He then completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Stanford University Hospital in Stanford, California, before completing cardiovascular medicine and electrophysiology fellowships at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.
He previously served as the Director of Electrophysiology and an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine.
During his academic appointments, Dr. Mitiku enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows. He was awarded Outstanding Teacher of The Year for three consecutive years and was granted entry into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
Dr. Mitiku is affiliated with UCI Medical Center in Orange, California, and serves as the director of electrophysiology at Hoag Irvine Hospital in Irvine, California. At Hoag, He was awarded the top quality performer within the Cardiology peer group for 2019 and 2020. He is also a member of the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and the American Medical Association.
