Dr. Thurmond Lanier, DPM

Thurmond Lanier, DPM, MPH, FACFAS, is the founder and medical director of SmartStep Foot and Ankle. As a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Lanier specializes in reconstructive and minimally invasive surgery, bringing years of expertise to help patients regain mobility and live pain-free. Dr. Lanier earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Carolina and his podiatric medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating summa cum laude as class salutatorian. He also holds a Master’s in Teaching from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Public Health from the City University of New York. Dr. Lanier resides in Charlotte, NC, with his wife and four children. He is an avid fan of the Carolina Panthers and South Carolina Gamecocks, and enjoys traveling and attending sporting events with his family.
