Weston Gentry, MD, is a physician who specializes in orthopedic surgery at Powell Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He is also affiliated with Brookwood Baptist Health, serving the Birmingham metro area and surrounding cities.
Dr. Gentry earned his medical degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2018. He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock in 2023. He also completed an orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson in 2024.
During his training, Dr. Gentry has cared for athletes at multiple levels of competition, served as the team physician for Warren Central High School in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and assisted with the sports medicine teams for the University of Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Belhaven University in Jackson. Dr. Gentry is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Alabama Orthopaedic Society. He is especially interested in orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery.
Dr. Gentry is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. He enjoys spending time with his wife, baby girl, and chocolate lab. His hobbies include duck hunting, fishing, University of Tennessee athletics, and cooking BBQ.
