Dr. Delvena Thomas is a board-certified psychiatrist providing mental health support for patients served by FSCDR. She specializes in helping individuals manage emotional wellness, stress, and the mental health challenges that can accompany chronic medical conditions such as sickle cell disease.
For almost 30 years, Alecia has been working in Mental Health and Psychiatry. She has a unique perspective for treating patients due to her diverse professional experiences. She completed her undergrad education in 1993 at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She worked in a variety programs in the community, in schools and in the hospital setting providing supportive counseling, group therapy, education and case management services. In 2012, she obtained her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at South University in Tampa, FL. She has worked in community behavioral health and addictions in both the outpatient clinic as well as the inpatient hospital setting. She is a preceptor for South University and trains upcoming Physician Assistants in Psychiatry. She was named preceptor of the year in the 2020 by South University. As a Physician Assistant, she practices adult general psychiatry under the supervision of a board certified psychiatrist.
