I am a U.S. Army-trained, board-certified General Surgeon with additional certification in Obesity Medicine as well. I've been in practice now for roughly 25 years to include performing bariatric weight loss surgery. To better serve my patients I obtained board certification in obesity medicine a few years ago in an effort to provide a more comprehensive approach to weight loss for my surgical patients. Over time, I've come to realize that there is a huge need and demand for formal medically supervised weight loss assistance. Moreover, many people feel a reluctance to talk with their medical providers about obesity issues in detail due to embarrassment, fat-shaming, or other reasons. Consequently, many patients never get the care they really need. I felt that providing an online course where a patient can have access to me without having to come to the office would make my expertise available to a much larger pool of patients.
