Betsy received her undergraduate degree from Colby College, and received a Master of Acupuncture (M.Ac.) from the New England School of Acupuncture in 2005. She is licensed and board-certified to practice acupuncture by the NH Board of Medicine and is a Diplomate of the NCCAOM, the national accrediting association. She also participated in a 3-year intensive training program in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.
During her years in practice, Betsy has treated thousands of patients and hundreds of conditions. She is able to draw on her clinical experience and varied trainings in both traditional Chinese acupuncture and biodynamic craniosacral therapy to design comfortable, effective, and individualized care for every patient whether it be muscular-skeletal concerns, pain conditions, digestive or hormonal disorders, women’s health and fertility, or mental health concerns. By taking a holistic view of the body, and using her close listening skills (with ears and hands), she aims to help patients not only resolve their current ailments, but also optimize their health and well-being. Betsy believes in partnering with her patients to help them find ways to incorporate healthy living into their lifestyle, and help them feel well enough to lead the kind of lives they desire.
Betsy’s interests include music, meditation, the outdoors, and spending time with her husband, 3 children and the family dog.
Scott graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture in 2002 with a Masters degreee in Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture. Scott is also a diplomat of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and a Licensed acupuncturist in NH and NJ. Since graduation, Scott has worked full time as an acupuncturist for several multi-disciplinary offices as head acupuncturist as well as operating his own private practice. He has treated thousands of patients with varying conditions and he integrates that experience into each and every treatment.
Scott's ability to heal began when he was young when he would find and push on sore points on his mother's back that helped alleviate her migraines. From that young age he was already interested in the martial arts and pressure (acu) points. Over time he became passionate about ancient healing traditions such as acupuncture and energy healing (medical Qigong) through these internal martial arts because the healing of others and self-healing represented the highest level of these Martial Arts.
Scott continues to study and teach the Self-healing arts of Qigong, Neigong, Concsious Dreaming, and also the Internal Martial Arts of Taijiquan (TaiChi), Baguazhang and more. Through these ancient healing arts Scott has developed a more in-depth knowledge of how healing of the Body, Mind, and Spirit works and tends to integrate his knowledge of self-healing into his acupuncture sessions. Scott believes in the unlimited potential of our body and mind to heal and emphasizes that we all have this potential.
When not at work, Scott enjoys spending time out in nature, practicing tea ceremony, and exploring new places.
Adam Learner, LAc, provides Functional Medicine, Acupuncture, and Chinese Herbal Medicine for the residents of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, at Family Acupuncture & Wellness. In his practice, he uses a holistic approach that combines the wisdom gathered in Chinese Medicine’s 3000 year history, with the scientific, evidence-based approach offered by Functional Medicine offers.
Having worked with thousands of patients in both private practice and hospital environments, he has learned that many patients are deeply dissatisfied by the results they receive from conventional care. They are tired of rushed appointments where they don’t feel heard, and of treatment approaches built almost entirely around drugs that only treat or suppress symptoms without addressing the underlying root cause, and often cause additional problems and side effects. He founded Family Acupuncture & Wellness, and has guided its growth, with an eye providing a different type of healthcare: one that is focused not only on helping patients find the most efficient relief from their suffering, but whenever possible works to correct the root causes that are causing the symptoms.
Adam earned his undergraduate degree in psychology from Colby College and went on to pursue his master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture.
In a rare opportunity to apprentice with master herbalist Dr. Tao Xie, MD, LAc, Adam learned modern and ancient time-tested methodologies to treat many chronic medical conditions. His training placed special emphasis on women’s health issues, hormones, digestive issues and infertility.
He received extensive training and advanced certification working with cancer patients from the leading Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
He was honored to be the first Licensed Acupuncturist hired by Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, a Massachusetts General Hospital subsidiary. While there he developed a very successful program that integrates acupuncture into the traditional care, with particular focuses on working with patients undergoing cancer treatment, as well as those suffering with pain conditions that are not adequately addressed with standard care. He served on the hospital’s Integrative Therapies Committee and participated regularly with the Northern New England Spine Center.
As an accomplished speaker, he’s often invited to present lectures on Acupuncture, Functional Medicine, and healthy living at hospitals, universities and other local establishments.
Adam is board-certified to practice Acupuncture in New Hampshire, and was one of the first board-certified Herbalists in the state.
Whit graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture/MCPHS in 2019 with a Masters Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and recently graduated from the Pacific College of Health and Science as a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. He is a diplomate of the NCCAOM and a licensed acupuncturist in the state of New Hampshire. Whit has studied a variety of acupuncture styles, including TCM, Orthopedic, Japanese Styles, Master Tung, Balance Method, as well as Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Whit’s journey with acupuncture began towards the end of high school and the beginning of college when he developed severe migraines that were completely debilitating. After western pharmaceutical treatments proved to be ineffective, he tried acupuncture and the results were profound. Whit always knew that he wanted to pursue a career in healthcare, so after finishing his undergraduate degree he took some time to consider all his options for further education (western medical school, graduate programs in genetics and genetic counseling, PA school, and more). Whit finally decided on acupuncture school because of the strong positive impact that acupuncture had on his life. The thought of being able to provide patients the same level of care and relief that he experienced was all the motivation Whit needed to pursue a career as an acupuncturist.
In his free time when he is not working or studying, Whit enjoys sailing, skiing, yoga, camping, hiking, cooking/baking, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with friends and family.

Jason is Board Certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He earned his Master’s Degree in Chinese Medicine from the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seattle. He believes that the balance between body, mind, and spirit help us achieve optimal health. Some of Jason’s specialties: the treatment of chronic pain, digestive disorders, headaches, women’s health and fertility, and pediatrics.

Beth is Board Certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the National Association of Detox Acupuncture. She has a Master’s from The Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seattle. A native of New England, she has enjoyed living and working in Maine since 2003. She has worked in various community clinics and some of her specialty areas include infertility, PMS, menopause, and other issues in women’s health.

Sarah is Board Certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the National Association of Detox Acupuncture. She has a Master’s degree in Acupuncture from The Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine. In addition to her training as an acupuncturist, Sarah holds a doctorate in nutrition research from Tufts University. Sarah specializes in the treatment of pain, orthopedics, anxiety and women’s health. In addition to acupuncture, Sarah offers cupping and dry needling (trigger point) acupuncture services to help accelerate patient healing.
