Dr. Afshin Akhavan is one of Los Angeles’ leading physicians specializing in Family Medicine. He directs two clinics in Downtown Los Angeles that provide outstanding medical services to all men, women and children.
Dr. Akhavan began his pursuit of medicine as an undergraduate at UCLA where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree. After receiving two degrees from UCLA, he attended Western University of Health Sciences, where he received his Osteopathic medical degree. Dr. Akhavan fulfilled his residency in Family Medicine at USC Keck School of Medicine, where he served as a chief resident and continues to contribute as a faculty member ever since. He is currently on staff at two local hospitals, California Hospital Medical Center where he also served as the chairman of family medicine department and Good Samaritan Hospital. He practices traditional family medicine and knows it to be his passion and his true professional calling.
He is a servant of God, loving and dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle and a loyal friend. He treats his patients, employees, colleagues and students no differently than his family.
Dr. Akhavan’s ultimate goal is to bring G-dliness to this world and help every patient achieve his or her maximum health potential. Julia is an AANP certified Family Nurse Practitioner, fluent in English and Spanish who was awarded an ADN scholarship from the National Association of Hispanic Nurses. She received her associate degree in nursing from Antelope Valley College and both her bachelor’s and master’s degree from California State University, Bakersfield.
Julia’s scope of practice is focused on Family Practice, Acute and Chronic Care and her medical background includes over 20 years of experience in various fields of nursing including acute care facilities, assisting in cardiology, the emergency department, respiratory care, senior care facilities, medical surgical, stroke and telemetry units.
Julia’s life-long passion and desire has been to help in the community, providing compassionate care to patients while simultaneously educating her patients on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She brings with her a wealth of experience and quality evidence-based care and considers it a privilege to be able to channel her passion for nursing through her work as a Family Nurse Practitioner as well as serving in the community and church, helping those who are less fortunate.
