Dr. Dorio graduated with his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1969. He then earned his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine in 1974, and went on to complete his post-graduate training in the department of pathology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Afterward, he stayed at the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant professor of pathology, researching cell adhesion molecules.
