He completed a residency in surgery at Mercer University and then returned to Wake Forest for an orthopedic fellowship in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery. Dr. Troum is board certified in Surgery of the Hand by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) as well as a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH). He is an adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at UNT/TCOM in the Performing Arts Medicine department and a consulting reviewer for the Journal of Hand Surgery.
Dr. Troum has been practicing exclusively hand surgery for over 25 years and has been in the Dallas-Ft Worth community since 2000. He has appeared as a medical expert in the national media including the Wall Street Journal and New York Times and has published many journal articles and book chapters on topics including arthroscopy, vascular disease, hand infections, tumors, and various subjects in general surgery. Dr. Troum was also recognized by the Texas State Legislature when he received an honorary commission as Surgeon General of Texas in 2004.

Nilpesh Patel, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas, located in Rockwall, Wylie, Forney, and Terrell, Texas. Dr. Patel specializes in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery, including sports-related injuries, fracture treatment of the upper extremity, Dupuytren's contracture, and traumatic and nerve-related conditions.
A North Carolina native, Dr. Patel graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000 with a political science and chemistry degree. He continued his education at the University of North Carolina, receiving his medical degree in 2004.
Dr. Patel moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and completed a five-year residency in orthopaedic surgery at Emory University. With an interest in hand and upper extremity surgery, he moved across the country for specialized training at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he completed the prestigious fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery.
In his free time, Dr. Patel enjoys outdoor activities, traveling with his wife, and watching his three children play sports.
