Nizar A. Tejani, MD, MPH, is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, making him both a primary care physician and a specialist.

Dr. Tejani has been serving his patients since 1993, when he first opened his medical practice in Stockbridge, Georgia.

Dr. Tejani earned an international scholarship from The Aga Khan Foundation, Geneva, to study at Yale University. He completed his Master’s in Public Health from Yale University School of Medicine. Before that, he received his Medical Degree from Jinnah Sind Medical University, graduating at the top of his class and earning the honor of Summa Cum Laude.

Dr. Tejani completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Saint Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, New York. Following this, he completed his Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York.

Alafuro T. Oruene, M.D., is a valued member of the Apex Medical Center team. A board-eligible physician in both internal medicine and pain medicine, Dr. Oruene is a valuable resource to the greater Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada, community.

Dr. Oruene began his studies at the University of Nigeria in Lagos, Nigeria. He then earned his medical degree from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. An internship at Port-of-Spain General Hospital in Trinidad and Tobago further expanded Dr. Oruene’s skill set. While in Trinidad and Tobago, he also completed a residency in anesthesiology at Mount Hope Hospital.  Dr. Oruene pursued a second residency in internal medicine through the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine at North General Hospital in New York. A fellowship in interventional pain management at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center provided an in-depth period of training.

Michael Metzger, MD, FACC, is a fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist, with special expertise and training in vascular medicine and endovascular procedures. At South Palm Cardiovascular Associates in Delray Beach, Florida, he has extensive experience detecting and diagnosing the full range of cardiovascular disorders, and provides effective, individualized treatment to his patients.

Dr. Metzger earned his medical degree at the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in Israel. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before completing a cardiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Afterward, he finished an interventional cardiology fellowship at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. He is board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular diseases, and internal medicine.

His specialties include the detection and treatment of peripheral arterial disease, as well as diagnosing and treating venous insufficiency. Dr. Metzger is an expert in transradial cardiac catheterization and serves on panels for the “Cardiac Alert” service, which provides prompt interventional services for patients entering the emergency room with heart attacks.

I graduated from Creighton Medical School in Omaha, Nebraska and completed my residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Louisiana State University - at Charity Hospital, in New Orleans. For five years, I was Chief of Urgent Care at Kaiser Permenente for the Dallas Region. Since 1997, I have been an attending Physician at Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC) in Garland, TX - A Division of Parkland Health and Hospital System. Currently, I am an attending physician at Children’s Hospital. In addition, I have hospital privileges at Richardson’s Regional Medical Center. When I am not in my office, I am with my two children who give me deep joy and happiness. We currently live in Richardson Texas.

Shahnaz Begum, MD, FACC, is a Board-certified cardiovascular disease specialist. She is an experienced physician who has been practicing cardiology for over 15 years. 

Dr. Begum received her medical degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical College in New York. She subsequently completed 3 years of training in Internal Medicine followed by another 3 years of specialized training in Cardiovascular disease/cardiology. She then worked at SUNY Downstate as a faculty physician and Assistant Professor of Cardiology until she moved to Dallas. After that she worked at Texas Health Resource and Plano Presbyterian Hospital for several years as an attending Cardiologist. Since then, she has been providing outstanding cardiac care at Heart Care located in Frisco, Texas. 

Dr. Begum has exceptional knowledge and skills. She excels in diagnosing and treating heart conditions including heart failure, coronary artery disease (CAD), valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, and many more. Joel Onafowokan, MD, is a highly skilled physician who specializes in primary care, internal medicine, and hospital care. He brings over 15 years of experience to Faith Medical Center and the communities of Charlotte and Mooresville, North Carolina.

Steven Kamara is a diligent and compassionate physician specializing in internal medicine. Dr. Kamara speaks English, Spanish, Hebrew, Farsi, and Arabic fluently. He attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine to receive his medical degree and completed his postdoctoral education at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
