Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Dr. Mehta grew up in Houston, Texas, and graduated from Memorial High School. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and graduated on the Dean’s List. After his graduation, he relocated to Rochester, Minnesota, where he received his training in Internal Medicine at the internationally renowned Mayo Clinic. During his fellowship he published several manuscripts and was appointed as Instructor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine.
