Emily Shortridge, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Pediatric Ophthalmologist. She specializes in ophthalmic care for children and also for adults with special needs.

Dr. Shortridge’s Pediatric practice is comprehensive and includes a wide range of pediatric eye needs. This includes strabismus, cataracts, tear duct disorders, amblyopia (or “lazy eye”), complex glasses needs, ptosis (drooping eyelids), dermoid cysts, ocular surface problems like pterygium and chronic inflammation, as well as medical glaucoma. She understands the value of education as she partners with patients and parents in making customized medical decisions that are right for them. Daniel Skinner, MD, is board-certified in dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. He provides expert care at Skin Cancer Specialists, located in Mesa, Arizona.

Dr. Skinner is a 5th-generation Arizonan who grew up in Mesa and graduated from Mountain View High School. He went on to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he graduated with a degree in business management. He then attended the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, where he developed an interest in dermatologic surgery. 

During medical school, he was a leader and volunteer in many different medical school organizations. He completed a one-year internship in internal medicine at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and a three-year dermatology residency at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he served as chief resident in his final year. He has presented research at many local and national meetings and has published research on the use of Mohs surgery for rare skin cancer, as well as a book chapter on dermabrasion. 

Dr. Skinner concluded his training with an intensive one-year fellowship in Mohs micrographic and dermatologic surgery in Birmingham, Alabama, with Dr. Christopher Harmon, one of the nation's leading Mohs surgeons. Dr. Skinner has performed over 10,000 skin cancer surgeries. In addition to training in Mohs surgery and skin cancer removal, he has expertise in facial reconstruction after skin cancer removal.

Dr. Skinner is currently the president of the Phoenix Dermatology Society and on the board of directors of the Arizona Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery Society. In addition, he is very active in volunteer work for his church and enjoys spending time playing and watching sports.

Following this, he completed Internal Medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. During these years of training, he published multiple peer-reviewed articles in various medical journals regarding diseases like multiple myeloma as well as kidney cancer. He has presented research at national meetings, including at the 2023 Genitourinary Oncology meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). 

He is excited to return to Phoenix and help serve the community he and his family consider to be home. He has a strong dedication to the care of patients with Hematologic and Oncologic conditions, and has experience treating a broad spectrum of both common and rare disorders in Hematology and Oncology. After graduating from a premier medical school in India, Dr. Fernandes continued her training in Internal Medicine and obtained advanced training in the treatment of blood and cancer disorders in the United States. She was awarded an international prestigious scholarship from the European Society of Medical Oncology and spent time as a visiting fellow in Medical Oncology in Spain. 

Her areas of expertise include breast cancers in addition to treating other cancer disorders such as colon cancer, lung cancer, melanoma/skin cancers and blood disorders such as anemias, iron deficiency disorders, abnormal blood counts. She serves as a section editor for Breast Cancer on hemonc.org, an internationally accessed online resource for cancer physicians. She has presented cancer research at national and international cancer meetings in the United States and Europe and volunteers with the American Society of Clinical Oncology for peer review activities.

Dr. Fernandes believes in providing compassionate, exceptional and cutting-edge care to her patients. Dr. Jason Samuelian is a Board-certified Radiation Oncologist, with expertise in novel radiation techniques including Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR). His clinical interests include a broad spectrum of disorders including solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, and benign hematologic disorders.
