“In these times when doctors are often beholden to systems that strip the doctor-patient relationship of its humanity, it was profoundly reassuring to find Dr Shapiro: a caring and thoughtful physician who takes the time to really listen and understand the patient experience. I have felt very listened to and very safe in his care- not to even mention that I was in pain and distress when I arrived and he quickly sorted out a complex medical situation and put me on the right medicine, and without ordering a bunch of unnecessary invasive tests, which many GI docs would have done. Dr Shapiro is practicing the true art of medicine. Highly, highly recommend. ”
“Short wait time after check-in. Everyone was very nice and the doctor listened to all of my issues that I had been having and told me the steps they were going to do.”
Through active listening and careful analysis, I am to deliver high-quality care that utilizes the most recent advancements in medicine. I am especially interested in the diagnosis and management of non healing complex wounds as well as in disorders of the lymphatic system. I earned my MD at the La Salle University in Mexico City and completed my residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Hyperbaric Medicine at the University of Texas-Houston. I have been active in academic medicine at both UT Houston and Baylor College of Medicine and have participated in several research projects including imaging of the lymphatic systems with near- infrared technology. I belief in individualized, patient-centered medicine, based on diagnostics and customized therapeutics considering each patients' particular circumstances.
