He then completed an internship in internal medicine at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad, Pakistan.
After working for several years in Pakistan, Dr. Malik moved to the United States. He continued his training with rotations and an internal medicine internship at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. At the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington, he completed a general surgery internship and a fellowship in neurosurgery. He continued with a fellowship in skull base surgery at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia, before completing a residency in neurosurgery at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Throughout his years of training and the years since, Dr. Malik has held numerous clinical positions and has been an assistant professor in the department of neurosurgery at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He is also active at multiple hospitals in the greater Houston, Texas, area.
Dr. Malik keeps up on the latest information in neurosurgery by maintaining memberships in the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Joint Section of Neurotrauma, the North American Spine Society, and the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America.

Dr. Alford received his undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
