Meet Dr. Little

Lauren M. Little, MD, FACOG is an OB/GYN in Atlanta, Georgia. She is proud to serve patients at Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates.

Dr. Little was born and raised near Boulder, Colorado. She completed her undergraduate education at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in anthropology and biomedical sciences.

After receiving her medical degree at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Memorial Health University Medical Center, affiliated with Mercer University, in Savannah, Georgia. During her residency, she served as the Administrative Chief Resident for the hospital and received recognition from the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine for her work in obstetrics.

During her training, Dr. Little became involved in Junior Fellow leadership for the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, holding the title of Georgia Section Vice-Chair. She has been involved in lobbying for maternal health at the state and national levels. She has authored publications on topics involving enhanced recovery at the time of cesarean sections and placental pathology related to preeclampsia.

Dr. Little has a broad interest in general OB/GYN and is especially passionate about fostering long-term relationships with her patients.

She resides in Buckhead with her fiancé and English cocker spaniel puppy. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, cycling, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills.

Meet Dr. Bukkapatnam

Jayasri Bukkapatnam, MD, is an OB/GYN serving patients in Atlanta, Georgia. She joined the team at Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates in April 2015.

Dr. Bukkapatnam is a graduate of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she received a Bachelor of Science in biology. After receiving her medical degree from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies (WPHfWB). She was named Assistant Director of Medical Education OBGYN at WPHfWB in 2010, where she was responsible for staffing inpatient labor and delivery, gynecology and triage, as well as the outpatient gynecology clinic. While there, Dr. Bukkapatnam also taught and managed residents and medical students.

She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Bukkapatnam is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is affiliated with Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

In her spare time, Dr. Bukkapatnam enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors as well as catching up on the latest cooking blogs.

She recently completed her OB/GYN residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in June 2025. During her training, Dr. Ezekwe received the Recognition of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology Award from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), as well as the Resident of the Year Award for her outstanding contributions to patient care.

Dr. Ezekwe lives in Atlanta. She enjoys watching plays, visiting museums, and knitting.

Meet Dr. Scholl

Hayley Scholl, MD, FACOG was previously a clinical instructor in the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. During her residency, Dr. Scholl was chosen by her faculty and peers to serve as Chief Resident. She also served on the Memorial Health Wellness Committee, where she helped identify and address resident concerns. Additionally, she was a Resident Lecturer within the South University Physician Assistant Program, lecturing on topics in women's health to physician assistant students, and served as the Research Lead for the Program Improvement Project for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In June 2021, Dr. Scholl was recognized with the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists Award for Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology. She was recognized by the faculty for excellence in gynecology upon graduation from residency. Dr. Scholl is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She earned her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky

Meet Dr. Dopson Almquist

Laura Dopson Almquist, MD, FACOG, is an OB/GYN in Atlanta, Georgia. She is dedicated to providing personalized, high-quality care to patients at Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates.

Dr. Almquist grew up in Atlanta, where she attended the Westminster Schools. After graduating from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science in psychology, she received her medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She then completed her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Greenville Health System in Greenville, South Carolina, and served as chief resident.

Dr. Almquist is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is affiliated with Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

She is married with two sons and has two dogs. Outside of work, Dr. Almquist spends her time enjoying meals with family, sharing her love of baking with her children, hosting game nights with friends, and exercising outdoors.

Meet Dr. Fisch

Jacqui Fisch, MD, FACOG, is an OB/GYN serving patients in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been with the team at Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates since 1998.

Dr. Fisch obtained her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Cape Town Medical School in South Africa. She then completed an internship in general and trauma surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, as well as internal medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in South Africa. Afterward, she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and her fellowship in pelvic imaging.

She is a member of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is affiliated with Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. In addition to her OB/GYN career, Dr. Fisch is trained and works in non-invasive aesthetics.

Dr. Fisch an avid outdoorswoman and loves hiking, horse riding, wakeboarding, and traveling the world with her family. She founded a non-profit organization in Tanzania that promotes and supports education. She lives in Buckhead with her two children and two furry children.

Nathan Mordel, MD, is a board-certified gynecological surgeon at Atlanta Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He specializes in advanced robotic, laparoscopic, vaginal pelvic surgery, including for fibroids, endometriosis, heavy and/or painful menstrual periods, pelvic organ prolapse, and urinary incontinence. 

Dr. Mordel received his medical training at Hadassah Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, graduating with a degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology. After coming to the United States, he completed a residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics and a fellowship in advanced pelvic surgery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Dr. Mordel has been practicing in Tifton, Georgia, since July of 1998. In 2002, he came back to Atlanta, started AMIGS, and joined the Piedmont Hospital staff. In August 2011 and December 2015 he added Northside Hospital Duluth and Northside Hospital Atlanta, respectively, to his practice sites. He is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and he is a clinical assistant professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University Medical School and Medical College of Georgia. Serena Pascal, MSN, WHNP-BC brings over 15 years of healthcare experience, including 7 years as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in high-risk obstetrics and comprehensive gynecologic care. Serena earned her Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Physical Therapy from Howard University before completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Concordia College in New York. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in 2019.

Throughout her career, Serena has collaborated closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop individualized treatment plans that optimize patient outcomes. Niambi Smith DNP, WHNP-BC is a board certified women’s health nurse practitioner with a passion for enhancing the health and well-being of her community. Niambi received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Howard University and after working in women’s services across NYC, the D.C. area, and Atlanta, Niambi obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Emory University with a specialization in women’s health. Niambi’s doctoral research focused on improving patient education materials about postpartum depression.  She is an expert in women's health.

Niambi provides gold standard, comprehensive gynecologic care, including annual well-woman exams, contraception counseling and management, evaluation and treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding, PCOS, perimenopause, menopause, sexually transmitted infections, and other gynecologic conditions.

Lillian Schapiro, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified gynecologist serving patients at Ideal Gynecology, LLC,  in greater Atlanta, Georgiar recognized as a leading expert in the communities of Stockbridge, Conyers, Locust Grove, Hampton, Covington, Jackson, Buckhead, Vinings, Smyrna, Roswell, Alpharetta, Midtown, and Sandy Springs, GA. Dr. Schapiro has called Atlanta home for over 20 years. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennyslvania, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University. She graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine with Honors in Obstetrics and Gynecology and was awarded an International Fellowship to work at a hospital in Kenya. She completed her residency at UNC Chapel Hill, where she served as Chief Resident. Always interested in preventive medicine, she published her research on cervical cancer screening in Bali, Indonesia and has been to Nepal to train birth attendants to manage pregnancy complications.  She received the Caring for Congo Award from the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation for gynecologic surgery performed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Dr. Schapiro was the U.S. leader for Projet Myome and has been on three missions to the DRC helping women with fibroids and training local doctors. 

Dr. Schapiro believes that every patient is unique, and she enjoys discussing their concerns and coming up with a treatment plan together. She is a recognized expert in irregular bleeding, heavy periods, fertility problems, fibroids, pelvic pain, endometriosis, and incontinence.

Dr. Schapiro and her husband, Robert Schapiro, are the parents of three daughters. She is the author of Tick Tock, a novel chronicling her own struggles with infertility. 

Xiaoyan Emma Li is a board-certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner at Ideal Gynecology, LLC.  Emma is one of the leading experts dedicated to supporting women throughout Atlanta, Georgia, in their health care.

Emma Li completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Kennesaw State University. Inspired by her experience as a postpartum nurse, Emma decided to pursue her Master of Science in nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she specialized in women’s health. After completing her degree, Emma began working as a women’s health nurse practitioner, providing compassionate care to women across their lifespan.

Courtney Blue, FNP-C, RN, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered women’s health care. Originally from the Lowcountry of Charleston, South Carolina, Courtney is an expert in women's health and has been caring for patients in the Atlanta, Georgia area for more than six years, bringing both clinical expertise and a warm, personalized approach to Ideal Gynecology, LLC.

Dr. Jocelyn Slaughter, MD is a board certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist who founded The Healthy Woman -a multi-specialty women's healthcare practice- in 2016. Dr. Slaughter started the practice with a focus on providing safe, comfortable and innovative healthcare for women, while promoting entrepreneurship for Physicians.

Charis Trench-Simmons, MD, is a board-certified OB/GYN with ample medical experience and a true commitment to the field of women’s health care. At Prestige Healthcare OBGYN in Atlanta, Dr. Trench-Simmons works with her husband, Lorenza Simmons, MD, and skilled health professionals to serve women as they transition through all stages of life. Dr. Trench-Simmons offers an array of proven-successful aesthetic, gynecological, and obstetrical services.

After completing her undergraduate degree at the Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, Dr. Trench-Simmons obtained her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York. She then continued her education with a residency in gynecology and obstetrics at Tulane University in New Orleans and the WellStar Atlanta Medical Center.

Shelley Dunson-Allen, MD, is a board-certified OB/GYN physician at Providence Women's Healthcare in Roswell, Suwanee, and Atlanta, Georgia. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Dunson-Allen attended Harvard Medical School and completed her internship and residency at Emory University in 1993. She has served as an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Morehouse School of Medicine and as a clinical instructor at Emory University Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics teaching resident physicians and medical students. Dr. Dunson-Allen has been in private practice in metro Atlanta since 1996.

She has been in practice in North Fulton County since 2001 and founded Providence Women’s Healthcare in 2008. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia OB/GYN Society. Dr. Shelley Dunson-Allen is on staff at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Wellstar North Fulton Hospital, and Northside Hospital-Atlanta (Sandy Springs).

While visiting a friend who had recently returned home from New Mexico, Ellen felt the call of midwifery for the first time as a young woman entering the adult world around forty years ago. This friend had practiced Midwifery with Traditional Hispanic midwives, the Curandera-parteras. These traditional Midwives played a vital role in Ellen’s understanding of the underserved mothers and babies of Northern New Mexico. Her heart thrilled as she listened to the stories of the mothers bringing life into the world into the sacred hands of Curandera-parteras who served this underserved region for many years.

After much prayer and contemplation Ellen decided to follow the path of Midwifery through Nursing. She lived and was raised in Nashville, Tennessee and completed her A.D. in nursing in 1988, followed by her BSN in 2009. Ellen went to work as a labor and delivery nurse at the old Metro General Hospital, which is now closed, formerly located on the Cumberland River. A team of Nurse-Midwives served the women at the Metro General, and again, Ellen heard the strong call of midwifery on her life.

Ellen worked as a labor and delivery, post-partum, normal newborn and high risk newborn nurse for over 25 years. During this time, she raised her own family and continued her education as her children obtained theirs.

In 2011 Ellen had the opportunity to return to school, and now, after many years of working as a RN and raising her family, the call of Midwifery came to her again. She was able to enter Frontier School of Nurse-Midwifery and Family Nursing, founded by Mary Breckenridge. Ellen earned her MSN from The Frontier School of Nurse Midwifery in 2014 and went on to become a certified nurse midwife, fulfilling this lifelong dream and call.

Ellen again remembered the night with her friend years ago. The stories of birthing mothers, under the vast New Mexico desert sky, rich, misty, painfully blue and purple and the love, skill, dedication and healing of the Curandera-parteras. She remembered the first call within her spirit to a path of Midwifery.
Ellen has a deep belief that all birth is a sacred, spiritual experience for each mother and family and should be treated with respect and reverence. She believes in Shared Decision Making, Informed Consent, and Partnering with women. She has a long history of working in a hospital setting but has also attended home births in the traditional setting.

Fun Fact: Ellen recalls that she was born in Marietta Ga and when she was a small child she has fun memories of her family calling her a “Georgia Peach.”
