Meet Dr. Stephen Pine, MD - A Lifetime Advocate for Compassionate Women's Health
Dr. Stephen Pine is a board-certified OB/GYN who began his career in 1970, just three years before the landmark Roe v. Wade decision legalized abortion across the U.S. Early in his training, he witnessed the devastating aftermath of unsafe, illegal abortions—patients suffering trauma, infection, infertility, and even death. Those experiences shaped his lifelong commitment to reproductive freedom and compassionate, evidence-based care.
Today, in the twilight of his career, Dr. Pine focuses exclusively on clinical gynecology and telehealth services. He no longer practices obstetrics or performs surgeries, choosing instead to dedicate his time to quality-of-life medicine—addressing issues like menopause, pelvic pain, hormone imbalance, weight management and preventive care.
Dr. Pine is a proud supporter of midwives, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, and has mentored dozens of future healthcare leaders throughout his decades of practice. His approach is patient-centered, collaborative, and rooted in both science and deep humanity.
A Personal Message from Dr. Pine
As a young medical school graduate in 1970, prior to the 1973 Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision, I personally witnessed the heartbreaking aftermath of patients who had no other choice but to turn to dangerous, illegal abortions. It was a dark time. Patients endured medical abuse, permanent injury, and sometimes death at the hands of unskilled providers.
The right to choose became critically important because it became clear—painfully clear—that every individual deserves access to safe, legal, and compassionate reproductive healthcare.
The reversal of Roe v. Wade is not just a political shift. It’s a medical and human rights crisis. It takes us back to an era we fought hard to overcome. As a physician, friend, brother, husband, and father, I will do everything in my power to protect people’s right to reproductive freedom.
I began my training in womens care in the Navy in 1985. I have served on a ship, worked as an Emergency Room physician, and a general surgeon while on board ship. Since that time many years ago, I have treated many many women for all types of medical issues, both acute and chronic. I have come to appreciate womens health issues. My experience ,candor, and listening will hopefully provide to you the care you seek.
