Daniel Krivoy, MD, is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist and surgeon, and a founder of of the Los Angeles Glaucoma Group. He specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma and cataracts, with expertise in the full spectrum of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and premium cataract surgery using the latest intraocular lens technology.
Dr. Krivoy performs femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery and offers the most advanced premium intraocular lenses, including the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL), extended depth of focus (EDOF) lenses such as the PureSee, Symfony, AcrySof IQ Vivity, multifocal IOLs including the PanOptix and toric IOLs for astigmatism correction. He has particular expertise in IOL selection for glaucoma patients, where lens choice requires careful consideration of visual field status, contrast sensitivity, and long-term IOP management.
As a glaucoma surgeon, Dr. Krivoy performs the full range of MIGS procedures, including the iStent Inject W, Hydrus Microstent, XEN Gel Stent, Kahook Dual Blade goniotomy, OMNI canaloplasty, AlloFlo and endocyclophotocoagulation (ECP), frequently combined with cataract surgery for a comprehensive approach to managing both conditions simultaneously. He also performs traditional glaucoma surgeries including trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage devices.
Dr. Krivoy is the founder of the Los Angeles Glaucoma Foundation, through which he recently organized a successful continuing education symposium in partnership with the Los Angeles County Optometric Society. He is a board member of the Research Study Club of Los Angeles, where he moderates the annual glaucoma panel at their Midwinter meeting. He is past president of the Los Angeles Society of Ophthalmology, having served in every officer position over six consecutive years. He is a former board member of the Masket Foundation and serves on the Medical Affairs Committee of the Specialty Surgical Center of Beverly Hills.
Dr. Krivoy serves as a scientific advisor to ExSight Ventures, a leading early-stage ophthalmic venture capital firm, and to ophthalmic startup companies. He has served as principal investigator in numerous clinical trials evaluating novel glaucoma therapies, devices, and drug delivery systems, and continues to participate in clinical research at his practice.
He completed a clinical fellowship in glaucoma and a research fellowship in glaucoma and ocular imaging at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary under the mentorship of world-renowned glaucoma specialists Drs. Robert Ritch and Jeffrey Liebmann. He completed his ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College and a medical-surgical transitional internship at St. Barnabas Medical Center–Mount Sinai Medical School. He earned his medical degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela.
Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Krivoy served as assistant professor of ophthalmology at New York Medical College and director of the Glaucoma Service at Metropolitan Hospital Center, a teaching hospital of the ophthalmology residency program. After moving to Los Angeles, he continued to teach as a clinical instructor in ophthalmology at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and volunteered at the glaucoma clinics at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Krivoy is an active member of the American Glaucoma Society, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Glaucoma Society of Southern California, and the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Glaucoma, the official journal of the World Glaucoma Association. He has authored scientific publications and book chapters, and has lectured and presented scientific papers nationally and internationally, including as a glaucoma expert at joint events of the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds medical licenses in California, New York, and Connecticut.
Dr. Krivoy provides free eye care to patients in need through the American Glaucoma Society’s AGS Cares program and the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s EyeCare America program.
Dr. Krivoy was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, and is a native Spanish speaker. He is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. In his native Venezuela, he founded a national ophthalmology resident lecture series through the Venezuelan Society of Ophthalmology that remains active today, and volunteered his services to underserved populations, including several months providing care to Yanomami communities in the Venezuelan-Brazilian Amazon.
