Jonathan H. Koenig, MD, is a Board Certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon at Los Angeles Pediatric Orthopaedics serving the Brentwood community on the Westside of Los Angeles. Growing up on Long Island in the suburbs of New York City, Dr. Koenig was a tri-sport athlete who went on to play varsity lacrosse at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated from Yale with a degree in the history of science and medicine. He then returned to New York City to earn his medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.  

Dr. Koenig completed a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan's Upper East Side — home of America’s first official sports medicine department. His training included rotations at world-leading institutions like Boston Children’s Hospital, R Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Dr. Koenig served as chief resident during his final year and completed a traveling fellowship at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. 

Leaving New York City for sunny Southern California, Dr. Koenig finished a one-year fellowship in pediatric orthopedics and scoliosis surgery at the world-renowned Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. He’s honored to bring his wealth of knowledge and extensive experience to the Westside of Los Angeles, where he resides with his wife, Dani - a native Angeleno.  They enjoy spending time with their young daughter - Harlow, newborn son - Hudson, as well as their furst born - Woody, a golden retriever.

As a former athlete and orthopaedic patient himself, Dr. Koenig has a personal understanding of all aspects of the care he provides. Thomas J. Kremen, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with advanced subspecialty training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery. He cares for patients of all activity levels—from professional athletes to individuals simply looking to stay active and pain-free.

Dr. Kremen has extensive experience as a team physician at the highest levels of sport. He has worked with organizations across the country and internationally, including Duke University Athletics, U.S. Men’s National Team Soccer, LA Galaxy, USA Basketball, and the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team. He currently serves as a team physician for UCLA Athletics, the South Bay Lakers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Dr. Kremen earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he was captain of the NCAA Division I men’s swimming team. He received his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at UCLA. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at Duke University.

After several years helping build the orthopedic program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Kremen returned to UCLA, where he is now a full-time faculty member.

He remains actively involved in advancing the field through research, publications, and national presentations, and maintains memberships in leading professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

STEPAN KASIMIAN, M.D.

Stepan Kasimian, M.D., is an orthopaedic surgeon with specialty training in complex spinal reconstruction and minimally invasive spine surgery. His primary interests include degenerative spine disease and spinal deformity. He has extensive experience in treating multiple spine disorders including disc herniations, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, kyphosis, scoliosis, tumors, and spinal trauma in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.

EDUCATION

Dr. Kasimian received his undergraduate degrees in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics and History from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. After residency, Dr. Kasimian obtained further training in complex spinal reconstruction surgery at Cedars-Spinal Medical Center, Institute for Spinal Disorders.

Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Ramin Ganjianpour, MD, is the founder of North Valley Orthopedic Institute in Mission Hills and Tarzana, California. Gregory Carlson, MD, of Restore Orthopedics and Spine Center in Orange, California, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty training in spine surgery. He specializes in minimally invasive spinal surgery for rapid recovery, including diagnosis and repair of previously failed spinal surgeries, revision surgery, and artificial disc replacement and other motion preservation techniques. I believe that my success in diagnosing and treating orthopedic problems was borne out of my own personal traumatic injury to my legs. While living in Peru, I was struck by a commuter bus, severely injuring my legs and forever changing my life. I have experienced many of the same surgeries that I now perform on my own patients — and I believe this experience has allowed me to be more in tune with my patients’ concerns, symptoms and experiences.
