Dr. Michael Hennessy is a native Texan through and through. He is privileged to be able to call himself a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, and he is proud to call Dallas, Texas his home.
Dr. Hennessy was born in Dallas to a family with three other siblings. He stayed in Dallas for his undergraduate education at Southern Methodist University. He majored in mathematics and graduated summa cum laude and valedictorian of his class. Dr. Hennessy then went on to Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. to obtain his medical degree. He graduated cum laude and then was drawn back to Texas when he matched in Orthopaedic surgery residency here locally at The University of Texas Southwestern. It was during his time at UTSW that he met his wife and eventual mother of their two children, Fallon.
After completing the rigorous training program at UTSW and Parkland Hospital, Dr. Hennessy decided to get a little bit more sunshine by completing his spine surgery fellowship under the guidance of Dr. Behrooz Akbarnia in San Diego, California. He knew he wanted to practice medicine back in Texas so he accepted his first position after training at a very well-known Orthopaedic surgery clinic in San Antonio, called The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group. Rahul Banerjee, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in orthopedic trauma, hip and knee replacement, treatment of fractures and injuries, and management of complex orthopaedic problems such as malunions, nonunions, and revisions. Bruce Prager, MD, is an experienced orthopedic surgeon at Orthopedic Center of Arlington in Arlington, Texas. He has practiced in Texas since finishing his training.
His undergraduate degree was obtained at the University of Pittsburgh where he obtained his BS in the Honors program of Biology. As a native of New Jersey, Dr. Prager attended medical school at New York Medical College. While at medical school Dr. Prager became interested in orthopedics and completed his residency at Wayne State University in Detroit. Always having an interest in sports, Dr. Prager then received a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at Saint Frances Medical Center of the University of Illinois. He also completed an A-O Trauma fellowship at Queens University Medical Centre in Nottingham, England. Dr. Prager is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Texas Southwestern School of Allied Health.
Since 1985, Dr. Prager has practiced in the DFW metroplex. He has been a neutral physician for the NFL for the past 13 years, examining players from numerous teams including the Dallas Cowboys. Dr. Prager has been a team physician for several high school football teams as well as the Texas Tornado Hockey team. He also has a special interest in football injuries and has published and presented at national meetings. One of Dr. Prager’s interests is minimally invasive surgery. He continues to pursue his studies in this area.
When Dr. Prager is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Diane, and their two children. His recreational activities include tennis, skiing, and staying fit.
