Bayard Street Obstetrics & Gynecology is a premier gynecology and obstetrics practice in New York with locations in Lower Manhattan, Sunset Park (Brooklyn), Flushing (Queens), and Syosset on Long Island.

Our practice was founded by Dr. Robert Mg Nyein in 1975, who emigrated from Burma, now Myanmar, in the 1960s, with a small office in Manhattan’s Chinatown. He brought with him traditional values of respect and a dedication to service and family. Our family business and compassionate team transcends generations.

Bayard Street Obstetrics & Gynecology has grown from a small clinic serving the local Chinese community to a comprehensive women’s health center that embraces patients from all backgrounds in various communities. 

Dr. Nyein’s pioneering work serving the Asian-American community built a strong foundation of trust that continues today. As one of the first Burmese and Chinese-American OB/GYNs in the region, he quickly became a trusted figure among women seeking culturally sensitive care. 

Dr. Nyein’s commitment to bridging Eastern and Western medicine approaches established our practice as a place where all women feel understood and respected. 

Women with abnormal Pap smears, abnormal bleeding, human papillomavirus (HPV) or other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), pelvic pain, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometriosis, and numerous other health concerns rely on Bayard Street Obstetrics & Gynecology for superior care in a welcoming setting. 

Our excellent care also includes infertility testing, prenatal care, high-risk pregnancy services, family planning, and contraception, including IUD placement/removal and Nexplanon® birth control implants. 

We offer cutting-edge diagnostic tests on-site, including colposcopies, ultrasounds, breast cancer screenings, and Pap smears. We use state-of-the-art imaging machines and other innovative testing methods. Acupuncture is also available for the treatment of various conditions.

We also provide comprehensive well woman exams, adolescent gynecology care, menopause management, including hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and minimally invasive surgery.

Patients may choose to join our executive membership program for superior concierge medicine services. 

Bayard Street Obstetrics & Gynecology is affiliated with NY Presbyterian Lower Manhattan, a world-class hospital, and all of our providers are clinical instructors at Cornell Medical School in New York City. Our office provides services in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Burmese, ensuring clear communication for all our patients.

Our fundamental philosophy remains unchanged as years pass: personalized, compassionate care, delivered through the intimate setting of a private, family-owned practice. 

Today, that legacy continues through three generations of the Nyein family and now includes additional physicians, each bringing a unique perspective while honoring the foundation of care established by our founder.
