Dr. Kapteyn is that rare find. ​I initially sought out Dr. Kapteyn as a temporary solution while searching for a Palliative Chronic Pain specialist. What I expected to be a "stop-gap" turned into the best medical surprise I’ve ever experienced. I didn’t just find a doctor who was taking new patients; I found a cornerstone for my entire care team. ​As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), Dr. Kapteyn embodies the holistic, "whole-person" approach that is so vital for chronic pain management. His board certifications in Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Pain Medicine—combined with his background in Hospice and Palliative care—give him a unique clinical perspective. He doesn’t just look at symptoms; he understands the musculoskeletal system and the human being behind the chart. ​On a personal level, Dr. Kapteyn is: *​Profoundly Kind: He makes you feel heard and respected, turning what are often stressful monthly visits into the highlight of my medical schedule. ​*Innovative & Involved: He is deeply invested in finding creative, conservative management strategies and lifestyle modifications that actually work. *​Genuinely Relatable: There is a level of patient interaction and "hands-on" care here that is missing in most modern practices. ​The office environment is great, but the real star is Dr. Kapteyn himself. I have been a patient for over 17 years. Dr. Desai has helped me navigate very complex health issues that are very difficult to diagnose, treat and live day to day with. When all other Doctors give up, he will not. He has treated my young adult children who have inherited some of my health conditions as well. He is the only Doctor I fully trust with my family. There is no bigger compliment I could possibly give than that!!! I highly reccomended Dr. Desai and his lovely practice. I really can’t fully articulate all the positives!! I am so grateful for Dr. Desai and the everyone at ISPP Center!
