We are honored to have Dr. Abida Hasan, DO as a valued member of our rheumatology team. Dr. Hasan is a board-certified rheumatologist known for her clinical excellence, leadership in academic medicine, and unwavering commitment to patient-centered care.
Dr. Hasan completed both her Internal Medicine residency and Rheumatology fellowship at the prestigious State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. During her fellowship, she was selected to serve as Chief Rheumatology Fellow in her final year—an acknowledgment of her leadership, clinical acumen, and dedication to the field. Notably, she made history at SUNY Downstate as the first woman to be awarded the distinguished Dr. Douglas Mund Award, an honor given to a fellow demonstrating outstanding aptitude, professionalism, and excellence in rheumatologic care.
Following her fellowship, Dr. Hasan joined the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) – Fresno as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine in the Department of Rheumatology. There, she played an active role in both patient care and the academic development of medical residents and fellows, while continuing her commitment to advancing the field through research. Her scholarly work has been featured in multiple peer-reviewed scientific journals, reflecting her passion for evidence-based practice and clinical innovation.
Dr. Hasan specializes in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis, scleroderma, vasculitis, and other connective tissue diseases. She combines the most current clinical guidelines with a deeply compassionate approach to care—ensuring her patients feel heard, understood, and empowered in their treatment journey.

Dr. Hasan is a very compassionate doctor and is great at educating patients. But at two of my three appointments, I had to wait well over an hour to see her. I can understand one appointment running a little late. Things happen out of a doctor's control. But it should not have happened twice and definitely not over an hour both times. I won't be back. I didn't get the answers I was seeking and my time is too valuable to sit in an exam for over an hour

The office staff is very efficient, especially Ms.Donna. I was having locking and buckling sensation in my knee with severe pain. I received a cortisone injection and am able to move easier with a significant decrease in my pain level.

From the time I stepped in front door I felt very welcomed. ALL staff were extremely polite, helpful and professional. DR HASAN explained my issues very clearly and what me next steps was going to be, never felt rushed at all. Only issue was I had to answer same questions about 3/4 times to different people also after filling in online night before appointment. Very unnecessary time consuming. Highly recommend Dr Hasan
