I was a long-time patient of Dr. Seth Lerner who retired a couple of years ago and was skeptical that anyone else could deliver the high level of quality care that he did. I was reluctant to try someone new for my dermatology needShow mores and did extensive research on the referrals I was given from friends and acquaintances. I could not decide on any one of them but then took a chance on Dr. Fogel instead who is the new dermatologist at this practice in Hawley Lane in Trumbull. I am so glad I did! I was pleasantly surprised at his personable, professional, and caring bedside manner. He was very engaging and focused on my needs during the entire visit. He was also very efficient as he successfully performed a comprehensive assessment along with a procedure in a relatively brief time span. He has a strong knowledge base and readily addressed questions and shared information, which helped me to make a smarter decision relative to my health needs. He also has a great sense of humor. And a shout-out to Dana, the medical assistant who was also awesome during the visit! I am so glad I took a chance on Dr. Fogel...I highly recommend him...he was awesome!!! Thank you!
When I arrived, I had forms to fill. I was directed to a room where additional medical information was given. A few minutes later, Dr Fogel arrived and we discussed the reason for my visit and my symptoms. He requested to see my Show morerash. I obliged. During the examination, he explained everything he was doing, his suspicions, his findings, and what was needed next . He asked if he could invite Dr Oestreicher which was acceptable to me. Dr Fogel was very sensitive to keeping me comfortable during the examination and during the biopsy procedures. He continued to explain the need for blood tests which are scheduled for 10/10 at Quest. Dr Fogel is MY dermatologist and I would have no issues returning for additional care or recommending him to friends.
Alexander Fogel, MD, is a highly-skilled dermatologist serving patients at Adult & Pediatric Dermatology Specialists in Trumbull and Westport, Connecticut.
Dr. Fogel is double board certified in both Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery (a.k.a. Mohs). He heads our surgical and reconstructive dermatology practice, which encompasses Mohs surgery, as well surgery for melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, and benign lesions, such as lipomas and cysts.
Dr. Fogel was educated and trained at Caltech, Stanford, and Yale. He remains a clinical faculty member at the Yale University Department of Dermatology, and is responsible for educating dermatologists in training. He is also an accomplished researcher, with more than 50 published articles, chapters, and presentations at venues that include the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Journal of the American Medical Association, the New England Journal of Medicine Catalyst, the Harvard Business Review, and the Wall Street Journal. He has also served as an investigator for multiple clinical trials, ranging from pharmaceutical to basic science research.
Dr. Fogel has received numerous national and local honors and awards, including the President's Volunteer Service Award, the Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society Award, the Yale Hospital All for One Award, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Scholarship. He has received grants from the American Skin Association and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and he is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Mohs Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the Royal Society of Medicine, and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
Clinically, Dr. Fogel's interests are broad and include medical, surgical, pediatric, and cosmetic dermatology. During medical school at Stanford, he founded a free clinic for patients without health insurance and maintained a longitudinal pediatric dermatology clinic. During residency at Yale, Dr. Fogel was the resident lead for surgical, procedural, and cosmetic dermatology, managing resident education in these areas.
Outside of work, Dr. Fogel is happily married and has three children. He loves exploring New England, partaking in the culture of our nearby cities, and working on his small farm.

Every thing went as expected.
I used to see Dr. Lerner and when he was retiring I ventured out to a new office. Although the doctor I was seeing was great, I found the office to be unorganized and not easy to deal with. I came back to APDS and I’ve been seeing Dr. Fogel. He’s absolutely amazing! I’m so happy with my experience returning to this office and with Dr. Fogel. He has helped me get my confidence back by prescribing me just what I need to clear my skin! Aside from Dr. Fogel, everyone in this office is great. I wouldn’t recommend another practice. :)
First time meeting Dr Fogel yesterday. I was very impressed with him, both his knowledge and his very cheerful attitude. Couldn't help but smile on my way out. His assistants all equally polite.

First time bringing my son here. Dr. Fogel and his team were so understanding and accommodating to my son’s issue. Definitely will be bringing my family here if/when necessary.
It was great
Got me in with an emergency issue. Dr. Fogel was very welcoming and thoughtful about his examination and diagnosis. He took all the appropriate actions to identify the problem including swabbing, ordering important meds and making a follow up appointment in 2 weeks with a definite plan to do a biopsy of all the efforts did not clear the problem. I liked him very much and would definitely recommend him.
I met Doctor Fogel today and liked him very much. There was a 30 minute wait so you lost a star.
Dr. Fogel listens and takes the time to address all the issues. Did not feel rushed and was satisfied with my visit.

Friendly and courteous but professional. Took me seriously and sent me to the ED for possible IV treatment. I would let you know if I needed them But 3 hours in the ED and haven’t been seen yet. Tip. Don’t go to the ED on a Monday

I felt like he had time for me
This was my fist visit with Dr Fogle and his assistant. Both were very pleasant. Dr Vogle explained everything to me. It is hard to find good Doctors these days but he is a good one. Definitely will recommend him
