About Amanda Scales, PMHNP

My name is Amanda, and I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I was born and raised here in Murfreesboro and am a proud graduate of MTSU where I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent 17 years as an RN in various outpatient settings. I decided to pursue a career as a psychiatric nurse practitioner because I was becoming more aware of how many people were struggling with their mental health and how significantly this was impacting their daily lives. I was also frustrated by the ongoing stigma surrounding mental health issues and seeking treatment. I aim to provide compassionate and supportive care to patients by creating a non-judgmental environment where patients will feel completely at ease. I strongly support patient-shared decision making, and I work together with each patient to create individualized goals and plans for treatment because I want every patient to feel seen and heard.
