I’ve had the opportunity to experience the best of care from Dr. Gallivan and his very professional and caring staff several times over the past decade. In all cases from knee replacement surgery to a rather difficult fall and Show morerecovery, he has offered good advice with a touch of humor and insights to consider about living a life where we GIVE to others in our community; he does this in his own life! I have noticed that his interests in so many aspects of life in and around Santa Barbara has opened doors to his practice for a wide range of patients who benefit from his skills as a surgeon and someone with well considered insights about living a healthy life. He is “with you” when you are his patient, and you feel comforted with the knowledge that he really cares about you!

Eileen Kelleher, ACNP-BC, is a highly experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at the Orthopedic Institute of Santa Barbara, providing compassionate, patient-centered orthopedic care in Santa Barbara and Solvang, California. With more than 15 years of advanced practice experience in acute care, trauma medicine, and orthopedic surgery, Eileen is dedicated to helping patients improve mobility, reduce pain, and return to the activities they enjoy most.
Eileen earned her undergraduate degree from Boston College and completed her nurse practitioner training at the University of California, Los Angeles. She also proudly served as a nurse in the United States Navy, where she developed the disciplined, collaborative approach that continues to guide her patient care today.
Her clinical expertise includes joint replacement care, total knee and hip arthroplasty, musculoskeletal evaluations, ultrasound-guided injections, and perioperative management. Eileen also has a special interest in regenerative medicine, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, as well as women’s musculoskeletal and bone health.
Known for her approachable and detail-oriented style, Eileen works closely with surgeons, therapists, and patients to create personalized treatment plans that support long-term recovery and healthy aging. She values clear communication and strives to make every patient feel informed, comfortable, and confident throughout their orthopedic care journey.
Outside of work, Eileen enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and dog, as well as running and volunteering with Santa Barbara Vizsla Rescue.

Dr. Gallivan sounded like a broken record. Listen more not lecture.I had to wait an hour to get in almost left etc etc.

The staff is lovely but lots of X-rays were taken & fluid was extracted from a bursar on my knee & it returned the next day with lots of swelling in my Lower leg & foot This was procedure was done twice not once Do you think I should be satisfied ?????! Cornelia
