Jose Mendez, DO, brings over twenty years of experience as a physician to his practice at Dermatology Consultants of Asheville in Woodfin, North Carolina. He has experience in varied areas, including dermatology, dermatologic surgery, wound care, critical care, primary care, and research. Dr. Mendez has over thirteen years of specialized experience in general dermatology and Mohs surgery.
Dr. Mendez earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Physician Specialties and is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Mendez is also board-certified in geriatric care and family medicine. He is fluent in English and Spanish, which enables him to connect with more patients.
Dr. Mendez served as a voluntary Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He has also served as a Clinical Professor for Internal Medicine and Dermatology with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and Clinical Professor for the Department of Dermatology Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Mendez has served as the principal investigator for several dermatology research trials.

Outside of a small wait to be seen, the office experience was pleasant. Dr. Mendez took his time with me and answered any and all questions I had. This review is not for the Miramar location but the Palmetto General Hospital office.

Have had the priviledge and blessing of having Dr. Mendez’s care as our family specialist for almost 40 years. His office will always be full of patients, so wait times won’t always be to your liking. But once you get to be seen by him, it’s all biz: focused attention to details, Medical expertice and effective outcomes. Dr. Méndez may be less sociable/more introverted than other specialists you’re used to, but his warmth is genuine and his results speak for themselves. His Medical staff is top-notch; His office staff could be more friendly and efficient. Have always appreciated the clean, well-appointed and quiet reception area/waiting room, as well as the cleanliness of the restroom. Keep up the great work and may Dr. Mendez’s son continue and improve upon the tradition of excellence of this Medical practice.
