Mehrine Shaikh, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Fairfax Cataract and Retina in Fairfax, Virginia. With more than 15 years of experience, she specializes in cataract surgery and treating vitreo-retinal diseases — including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and other complex retinal disorders.
Dr. Shaikh completed her medical training at Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. She also completed a clinical research fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institute in Boston and a residency in ophthalmology at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she was a chief resident.
Dr. Shaikh attended a fellowship at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard University, which is ranked among the top programs in the nation for ophthalmic training.
