Dr Hsia has done a Trabeculectomy in both of my eyes. The first one ended up with bleb too big and blurred my vision. Dr Hsia listened to my concerns and agreed to do a bleb revision. Revision helped some but we needed to do 2nd rShow moreevision and it worked!! I just knew that if we could get the bleb size down it would solve all issues which it did. It did require the 2 additional surgeries but it was so worth it!! Thank you Dr Hsia for listening to and hearing my concerns and thoughts!! Highly recommend!!

Yen Cheng (Joey) Hsia, MD, is an experienced provider at Diablo Eye Associates in Walnut Creek, California. He is a native of the Bay Area and completed his medical school at the Case Western Reserve University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor. He completed his residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and was awarded the prestigious Heed’s fellowship. He completed an additional glaucoma fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
After his training, Dr. Hsia served as the assistant professor of ophthalmology at UCSF and the medical director of the UCSF Berkeley outpatient center. He is excited to be part of Diablo Eye Associates and be able to serve the patients in the East Bay and beyond. Dr. Hsia is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Glaucoma Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Hsia specializes in cataract and glaucoma surgeries. His expertise encompasses complex cataract surgeries, intraocular lens-related complications, including lens exchange and secondary intraocular lens, traditional and novel glaucoma surgeries, minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries, and complex anterior segment surgeries and reconstruction. He was the first surgeon at UCSF to perform numerous novel glaucoma surgeries and artificial iris implantation. Dr. Hsia has published numerous research manuscripts and book chapters for a glaucoma textbook. He is a frequently invited lecturer for regional and national meetings.
In his free time, Dr. Hsia enjoys cooking, snorkeling, scuba diving, and spending time with his family.

On time (actually about 5 minutes early). The technician was efficient, friendly and explained each procedure. Th n into a second room for Dr Hsai who was his great with his explanations of each result and zing I was out of there until next year

I got the feeling today that this practice did not respect my time. We arrived early for our appointment and then didn't get called for about 10 minutes after the scheduled start of the appointment. The technician conducted the basic exam including shooting the pictures of the inside of my eyes, etc. Then she dilated my eyes, took me to a waiting area, told me it would be about 10 minutes. About 55 minutes later we got called, only to be put on hold for another delay. Finally we did get to see the doctor, and that contact took about three minutes. Total elapsed time for this appointment was 90 minutes... about 80 minutes of which was spent waiting in various waiting rooms and waiting areas. Not acceptable in my mind! Disrespected my time. I understand having to wait my turn, but why have appointments if that appointment time means nothing and you just end up waiting and waiting and waiting for the process to move along.
The Doc is great My appointment was 11:10 I didn't see him until 12:30. That is really poor service.

Dr. Hsia went out of his way to AuthorizeCenterwell Pharmacy to approve one of my eye medication’s even though it was not on their formulary. Initially, it was not approved, So again, Dr.Hsia went to the appeal and gave his reasons why the generic drug was not going to work for my eye. I highly recommend Doctor Hsia.
