We were so lucky to find Dr Hsia! My spouse had been diagnosed with open angle glaucoma and his pressures were high 20's and uncontrolled . It took some research , but we found Dr Hsia and learned he performed SLT . Once I found DShow morer Hsia, things improved right away . He is the best you can find ! Today my spouse is 2 yrs post SLT and his pressures were 12 in both eyes ! 12! Thank you for saving my spouses eyesight Dr Hsia. We owe you so much
I saw Dr. Hsia several years ago when he was still a fellow at UCSF. I happened to get an appointment with him again, and it was a wonderful experience. He was attentive to my questions and needs, and explained things clearly and Show moreconcisely. I highly recommend Diablo Eye Associates and Dr. Hsia specifically. Yen Cheng (Joey) Hsia, MD, is an experienced provider at Diablo Eye Associates in Walnut Creek, California. He is a native of the Bay Area and completed his medical school at the Case Western Reserve University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor. He completed his residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and was awarded the prestigious Heed’s fellowship. He completed an additional glaucoma fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
After his training, Dr. Hsia served as the assistant professor of ophthalmology at UCSF and the medical director of the UCSF Berkeley outpatient center. He is excited to be part of Diablo Eye Associates and be able to serve the patients in the East Bay and beyond. Dr. Hsia is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Glaucoma Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Hsia specializes in cataract and glaucoma surgeries. His expertise encompasses complex cataract surgeries, intraocular lens-related complications, including lens exchange and secondary intraocular lens, traditional and novel glaucoma surgeries, minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries, and complex anterior segment surgeries and reconstruction. He was the first surgeon at UCSF to perform numerous novel glaucoma surgeries and artificial iris implantation. Dr. Hsia has published numerous research manuscripts and book chapters for a glaucoma textbook. He is a frequently invited lecturer for regional and national meetings.
In his free time, Dr. Hsia enjoys cooking, snorkeling, scuba diving, and spending time with his family.
