Currently, in private practice in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, he has over 22 years of experience in vascular medicine.
In 1996, he completed both his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Indiana, in Indianapolis. He completed his residency in Birmingham, Alabama, at Carraway Medical Center, and received his specialization in cardiovascular medicine the AB Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
With certifications to practice medicine in Indiana, Tennessee, and Alabama, Dr. Hunt has also served on the faculty for the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Dr. Hunt specializes in the treatment of vein disorders using modern technologies, such as endovenous laser ablation, microphlebectomy, and sclerotherapy. To date, he has completed over 10,000 endovenous laser procedures to treat varicose vein disease.

Ray Sheppard Jr., MD, has never been able to dunk a basketball and he lacks any musical aptitude, but he was blessed with a mind and talent for surgery. This, coupled with his compassionate approach to every patient who walks through his doors in Madison and Huntsville, Alabama, makes him an excellent choice for general surgery. After graduating magna cum laude with a degree in physics from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Dr. Sheppard went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Alabama (UAB) in Birmingham. Dr. Sheppard completed his surgical training at the prestigious DeBakey Department of Surgery at the Baylor School of Medicine in Houston, where he was fortunate to be mentored by world-class surgeons at the renowned Ben Taub Trauma Center, as well as the famous MD Anderson Cancer Center.
During his education and training, Dr. Sheppard served as a teaching assistant both in the physics department at Georgia Tech and the anatomy department at UAB. While at Baylor, he was recognized with the Outstanding Chief Surgical Resident Award for his exemplary teaching and leadership. Today he continues as an associate professor for the Huntsville campus of the UAB Medical School.
